Overview
Microsoft is looking for an experienced and motivated Director, Enterprise Resilience and Crisis Management to help drive our Enterprise Resilience and Crisis Management Program (ERCM). The program focuses on helping Microsoft to anticipate, manage, and respond effectively to resilience risks and crisis events.
This position supports the on-going development and management of the Enterprise Resilience and Crisis Management program using methods which are consistent with Microsoft’s internal policies, industry standards, and best practices. The goal of this program is to ensure a state of readiness that enables an appropriate response to any crisis that could compromise Microsoft. The program is an established principles-based based approach that has strong support from senior leadership across the company.
This person will play a pivotal role in ensuring the company's readiness and response to crisis events and resilience risks. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategies to enhance the company's ability to anticipate, prepare for, proactively mitigate, respond to, and recover from various resilience risks. You will lead and/or collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential risks, establish crisis management protocols, and conduct regular training and simulations to ensure preparedness. Additionally, you will be part of a team that addresses both immediate and long-term risks, ensuring the company's continuity and stability in the face of unforeseen challenges.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing and implementing global programs, training, and developing teams in large enterprises. The successful candidate will also have experience responding to crisis events and leveraging data, reducing manual efforts with automation and integration of AI. To include measuring the effectiveness of programs through exercises and managing real crisis events. You should have experience setting big-picture strategy and successfully executing governance in a federated model. You should have experience working with and influencing senior leaders (specifically C-level executives). The successful candidate will be able to understand the value of our current state program that has been in existence for several years – but also be able to envisage where we need to go to support an ever-changing company and risk environment. You should have experience being an ambassador for a program with numerous, diverse stakeholders. Knowing how to influence others without authority is a skill that is critical to the success of this role – both during day-to-day efforts as well as during crises. Due to the crisis response responsibilities, this role may require working outside typical business hours and on-call availability.

Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
- 5+ years experience in reliability, resilience, crisis/incident management, business continuity, risk management, engineering, or compliance work
- OR equivalent experience.
- 5+ years’ experience managing companies and senior leaders through crisis/incident events
- 7+ years’ experience working on large, complex programs with a proven track record of delivering results on time, to budget
Additional or preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Business Continuity, Mathematics, Statistics, Disaster Science, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years experience in reliability, resilience, crisis/incident management, business continuity, risk management, engineering, or compliance work
- OR equivalent experience.
- Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII) certification (e.g., Associate Business Continuity Professional [ABCP], Certified Functional Continuity Professional [CFCP], Certified Business Continuity Professional [CBCP], Master Business Continuity Professional [MBCP]).
- Business Continuity Institute (BCI) certification (e.g., Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute [CBCI], Associate Member of the Business Continuity Institute [AMBCI], Member of the Business Continuity Institute [MBCI], Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute [FBCI]).
Business Resilience IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.

Responsibilities
- Providing business expertise and thought leadership
- Supporting crisis management exercises and actual events for the enterprise and senior leadership
- Creating an environment that fosters innovation and enables continuous improvement of the ERCM Program
- Continuously aligning the ERCM Program with the Company strategy
- Drive resilience risk reduction and resolution of gaps and risks identified articles such as After-Action Reports
- Development and Administration crisis management toolkit and oversight of the data – including working with other teams to ensure data quality and consistency
- Drive improved consistency and maturity of the program across the globe focusing on a risk-based approach
