Qualifications
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in one or more languages including, but not limited to SQL, SSAS, Python, Spark, Scale, C#, C++, and JavaScript
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ years of experience in data modeling, ETL development, and Business Intelligence & Data warehousing
- 2+ years experience building cloud services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years of software development experience with big data processing systems or online services.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with a systematic and structured approach to software design
- Familiarity with AI/ML fundamentals, tools (like Azure ML, OpenAI), and data analytics workflows and tools (Fabric/Power BI, Tableau, DAX, SQL).
- Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and DevOps practices.
- Curiosity, collaboration mindset, and a passion for solving real-world customer
- Ability to communicate technical details clearly across teams.
- Familiarity with Finance data and business rhythms a plus.
- Experience with or exposure to Agile and iterative development processes.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.

As a Software Engineer II at Microsoft, you’ll be part of a team of world-class engineers leveraging cutting-edge Microsoft Cloud and AI technologies to deliver modern, scalable, and intelligent systems that drive the Microsoft business forward.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and operate scalable cloud-based data, analytics, automation and tooling solutions using modern data platforms and Cloud services.
- Integrate AI capabilities such as Azure OpenAI, Cognitive Services, and ML models to enhance system intelligence and user productivity.
- Apply engineering best practices as you design and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. Own your solution end to end through design, implementation, and operations.
- Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting for proactive issue detection. Leverage telemetry and usage analytics to understand customer behavior and inform product decisions.
- Support and influence the team culture, customer-centricity, and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical feedback to our product engineering partners to evolve and mature our Azure services and Power Platform.
- Collaborate cross functionally across stakeholders, product managers and other engineers to deliver integrated, customer-focused experiences.
- Leverage GitHub Copilot to auto-generate boilerplate code for data pipelines, SQL transformations, and Spark jobs, significantly reducing development time for repetitive tasks.
- Use Copilot to enforce consistent coding patterns across ETL scripts and data model definitions, improving maintainability and reducing review cycles.
- Utilize Copilot to quickly prototype new data engineering solutions, such as window functions, partitioning strategies, and schema evolution logic, enabling faster experimentation and learning.
- Employ Copilot to assist in writing docstrings, inline comments, and unit tests for data processing functions, improving code readability and test coverage.
- Share Copilot-generated snippets and best practices with the team, fostering a culture of AI-assisted development and continuous improvement.
