Overview

Microsoft for Startups adopts a comprehensive approach to fostering success by partnering with venture capitalists and accelerators to identify and support the most promising startups. By working closely with startup leaders, we empower them to leverage Microsoft’s extensive resources and global B2B market reach.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you will contribute to our success by leading our technical advisory program and scaling our broader technical enablement functions. This role is critical to delivering high-impact technical support and enablement across the global startup portfolio, ensuring operational and technical consistency across the program.


In addition to these responsibilities, you will collaborate with internal partners, including Azure Product, Microsoft Learn, and Cloud Advocacy teams, to drive continuous improvement in the tooling and resources required to support our mission. This work will be bi-directional, leveraging those teams to evolve the content and AI agentic tooling that our customer-facing teams use to support our mission. You will also route product feedback to product teams to amplify the voice of startups and shape product roadmaps, ensuring that the Microsoft ecosystem evolves to meet the dynamic and fast-paced needs of startups navigating their growth trajectories.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development.
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience in building and scaling technical support or enablement functions.
  • 1+ year(s) excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience working with startups or in high-growth environments.
  • 1+ year(s) background in technical training development and enablement tooling.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the design and delivery of scalable technical support strategies that directly impact customer satisfaction and program performance; ensuring consistent, high-quality technical support delivery and team productivity through robust program management practices.
  • Own training documentation and tooling for technical support and enablement teams across all tiers. Define case complexity standards, manage demo/test environments, and maintain centralized enablement resources.
  • Lead the development and implementation of our AI Agent delivery strategy to enhance technical support and enablement capabilities.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and customer success teams to align technical execution with strategic objectives.
  • Leverage development opportunities (e.g., mentorships, role-based resources, training, internal events such as Build) to learn new technologies and consider how those learnings can be applied to improve productivity and efficiency for the program.
  • Identify new ways to measure program success and partner with the data team to update data models and reporting to reflect those metrics. Evangelize new metrics and the value they uncover to leadership and customer facing teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you are expected to model Microsoft’s leadership principles: create clarity, generate energy, and deliver success. You will foster collaboration, innovation, and accountability across teams.
