Overview
Microsoft Azure Edge + Platform (E+P) is a globally distributed team of engineers, architects, program managers, product managers, business program managers, business administrators, user experience researchers and designers who are responsible for the platform for Microsoft and for delivering Microsoft’s edge vision. We are looking for a Software Engineer II that will help us create the most reliable and trustworthy OS and platform services to empower Microsoft and our customers to achieve more. We unlock the next wave of opportunity at the edge through an at-scale ecosystem driving widespread adoption of our Microsoft cloud services.
The Cloud Security team within Azure Edge and Platform’s Enterprise and Security organization is responsible for making the operating systems used in Microsoft PCs, devices and the Azure cloud trustworthy. We produce cutting edge data protection, hardening and cryptography features such as Bitlocker, KeyGuard, SecureBoot, Code Integrity and HVCI. These tools equip device owners, manufacturers, and service operators to define how devices are used, even in the presence of hostile software and attackers. Cloud Security safeguards user secrets, giving confidence that even sophisticated modern threats cannot access data outside where and to whom they are intended.
The Platform Integrity team within Cloud Security ensures that the components running on a system are the ones that are intended, through features like Secure Boot, Code Integrity, Application Control for Business, Smart App Control and HVCI.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Rust
- OR equivalent experience.
- 1+ year(s) of systems-level development experience
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
- OR related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Rust
- Industry expereince using C, C++ or Rust development
- History of Operating System or Low level development (Kernel, Drivers, Firmware, etc.)
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
