Our engineers develop the services that power all our experiences. Viva Engage has a plethora of interesting engineering challenges - like supporting large-scale conversations and communities with hundreds of thousands of participants. We deploy new code every day to our tens of millions of users and are constantly innovating to improve the system and deliver a delightful experience.

Our backend stack:

• Linux on Azure
• GraphQL API gateway
• Postgres, CosmosDB, Redis, RabbitMQ
• Java and Ruby on Rails services, deployed as docker containers
• Mesos and Kubernetes container orchestration
• Observability: Grafana metrics, Azure Data Explorer log aggregation

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 7+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of modern web tech stack e.g. TypeScript, React, Redux, Webpack, Jest.
• Deep expertise in web markup including CSS3, HTML5.
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
• Holistic understanding of client technology including front-end, API, networking, and the browser itself.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
• Broad experience across multiple FE technologies.
• Good understanding of best practices of building cross browser and device independent interfaces.
• Expertise improving performance (FMP, TTI, bundle size, etc).
