Overview
Team Description –
Security represents the most critical priorities for our customers in a world awash in digital threats, regulatory scrutiny, and estate complexity. Microsoft Security aspires to make the world a safer place for all. We want to reshape security and empower every user, customer, and developer with a security cloud that protects them with end to end, simplified solutions.
We are now extending our security stack with the goal of supporting and empowering nations, governments, and related organizations in protecting their country's estates and safeguarding critical assets at great scales. This effort aims to protect the well-being of their citizens against cyber threats and attacks. The Defender suite leverages the robust Microsoft security portfolio to automatically analyze threat data across domains, building a complete picture of each attack in a situational awareness dashboard.
Our teams are dedicated to building cutting-edge Cyber Defense solutions, leveraging state-of-the-art cloud technologies, big data, AI, and modern UX platforms to deliver unparalleled value to our customers.

Responsibilities
You will take a pivotal role in defining and driving the foundational infrastructure that powers the entire security group. You’ll be responsible for owning and evolving our Kubernetes-based infrastructure, driving group-wide scalability, reliability, and developer productivity. This is a strategic, high-impact role that operates across multiple teams and products.
Your responsibilities will include:
Kubernetes Cluster Ownership:
Own the architecture, availability, security, and lifecycle of our Kubernetes clusters across environments. Drive best practices for cluster configuration, multi-tenancy, resource governance, and observability.
Scalability & Performance Leadership:
Proactively identify and remove bottlenecks in our infrastructure and development workflows. Lead initiatives to optimize cost, performance, and operational efficiency across the group.
Developer Experience & Productivity:
Build and advocate for robust platform tools, automation, and CI/CD solutions that enhance the velocity, safety, and satisfaction of engineering teams across the group.
Security & Compliance Foundations:
Work closely with product security and operations to embed secure defaults, policy enforcement, and compliance automation into the platform layer.
Observability & Reliability:
Champion observability across services by standardizing logging, metrics, and tracing. Establish and enforce SLOs and playbooks that improve our incident response and service reliability posture.
Mentorship & Culture Leadership:
Foster a culture of platform ownership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Mentor engineers across the group, and act as a force multiplier by sharing knowledge and driving reusable solutions.
