Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Principal/Lead Engineer level experience in software engineering.
- Extensive hands-on experience in designing and managing high-scale distributed systems in production environments. You possess hard-earned experience and opinions on effective observability, safe deployment practices, and the advisability of pushing code on Fridays.
- Prior experience building and deploying services running on Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Solid knowledge of Kubernetes platform architecture, working principles and components.
- Extensive experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration technologies, managed Kubernetes platforms like AKS, EKS, GKE, OpenShift
- Prior experience designing and converging existing services to run on container-based platforms.
- Experience with cloud-native infrastructure automation, and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation, Ansible)
- Experience in applying modern SDLC and livesite operation principles, such as DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong track record as a hands-on engineer designing and delivering elegant solutions to meet complex design and architectural challenges in a cloud-native services environment.
- Excellent communications skills, comfortable presenting to large audiences and customers.
- Solid experience with networking, performance analysis and optimization of web services and software.
- Prior experience working in the Identity and/or Security domains
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals, networking, security model and extensibility
- Experience in building self-managed Kubernetes "the hard way" from scratch
- Experience with Kubernetes customization through custom plugins and API extensions (CNI, CSI, controllers, operators)
Responsibilities
Identity Platform is seeking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team and help tackle some of our most complex problems – our Platform Runtime team, of which you would be a part of, is charged to deliver a modernized container-based hosting platform to unlock better resource optimization and consequent savings, increase availability of Identity mission-critical services, and enable further innovation in building better software to serve over 1B humans globally. Are you passionate about building and running distributed systems on cloud-native platforms at extreme scale? Are you curious, a learner, someone who wants to grow further in the craft of software engineering? You will work on a self-managed Kubernetes platform hosting critical Identity services processing millions of requests per second, powering hundreds of billions of authentications per day, with challenging availability targets (>99.99%). You will be part of the team shipping critical platform components quickly and safely. This is a hands-on role, you will need to be a team player, equally comfortable designing the better mousetrap, and rolling up your sleeves to ship the new mousetrap from whiteboard into production.

These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
