CoreAI is developing a new AI-first app stack, aligning infrastructure, platforms, and tools to support this mission. By providing developers with the right tools and resources, we aim to enable both Microsoft and our customers to unlock the full potential of AI in their applications and business processes. We're hiring a Principal Software Engineer, Developer AI to join CoreAI.

Within the Developer Division at Microsoft, the Developer Artifical Intelligence team is working on incubating, building and delivering the next generation of AI-enabled developer tooling experiences, across Visual Studio Code, GitHub Copilot extensions, Visual Studio, Azure developer services and more.

The DevDiv Developer AI team is seeking a Developer AI Software Engineer with a deep interest and passion for the intersection of developer tooling and modern generative AI systems, and a drive to invent the future of AI-enabled software development. Our team builds platforms, products and features delivered into many of Microsoft’s developer tools to empower and accelerate software development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience with AI

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
    • OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,
    • OR Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ years of experience working on modern generative AI-based products/tools in production.
  • 5+ years of full-stack product engineering, building customer-facing products across both platform/foundations and front-end/user-experience.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
