Overview

The Strategy, Enablement & Industry (SE&I) team plays a crucial role in transforming Microsoft’s Commercial Strategy into actionable plans that drive significant impact for the nonprofit sector. By fostering operational excellence, creating programs and offers that meet customer needs, and providing deep insights across regions and segments, the SE&I team accelerates digital transformation and AI adoption. This enables Microsoft to deliver large-scale mission impact for the nonprofit sector.

We are seeking a highly-driven strategic executive to lead the Azure Solution Area, with expertise in planning, execution, and representing the business to sellers,executives, and customer leaders. In this role, you will be a key member of the Tech for Social Impact (TSI) extended leadership team, with full accountability for defining key metrics that reflect the health and success of the business. As the ambassador for Azure in the nonprofit sector, you will develop and manage programs, offers, and corresponding investments. You will coach Leadership to delve into Infrastructure, Security, Data and AI, go-to-market strategies, the competitive landscape, and business opportunities. Additionally, you will directly influence audience segmentation and disrupt purchasing behaviors. This role offers flexibility, allowing you to work up to 40% from home.

The Azure Solutions Worldwide Non-Profit Business Director is responsible for developing and executing the business strategy for Azure, driving growth, and tracking performance through key performance indicators. In this role, you will collaborate with various teams to create and implement go-to-market plans and act as a spokesperson for Azure in the nonprofit sector. The Azure Solutions Worldwide Non-Profit Business Director also supports the pursuit of new growth opportunities and develops strategies to maximize performance and increase market share.

As part of the Sales Enablement & Industry leadership team, you will partner with key business partners across business planning, sales and marketing, business operations, and partner teams to drive both fiscal year planning and execution of TSI Azure Strategy, Solution Plays, and aligned investment plans. To excel in this role, you should have a creative mindset, be able to bring clarity to complex situations, and enjoy taking on new challenges. You must have demonstrated skills in leading cross-functional teams, collaborating across organizations, displaying business acumen, and communicating effectively both verbally and in writing, including with executives, partners, and customers. This opportunity will allow you to develop your coaching and leadership skills, demonstrate thought leadership, and become an expert in delivering successful business outcomes through others.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Health Sciences, Supply Chain, Education, Business or related field AND 7+ years customer-facing experience in operations, enterprise-level improvement program management, product management, transportation, hospitality, automotive, consumer goods, financial services, retail, management consulting, consultative selling, public sector, technology or industry-relevant equivalent management or technical work experience
  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Health Sciences, Supply Chain, Education, Business or related field AND 5+ years customer-facing experience in operations, enterprise-level improvement program management, product management, transportation, hospitality, automotive, consumer goods, financial services, retail, management consulting, consultative selling, public sector, technology or industry-relevant equivalent management or technical work experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years proven people management and/or leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in creating and driving programs/
    businesses in the field


Industry Advisory IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,000 - $217,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $168,600 - $237,500 per year.

Responsibilities

Business Management:

  • Develops and orchestrates execution of business strategy. Tracks the efficacy of plans to drive long-term sustainable growth for the business. Accept end-to-end accountability for revenue, defines scorecard metrics, and key performance indicators. Take a One Microsoft approach to partnership across peers and leadership to ensure alignment and drive business impact. Represents the outcomes of your business providing context and insight into the results in Rhythm of Business meetings, as well as monthly and quarterly business reviews with executives.

Field Enablement:

  • Ensure field communities have the support and readiness needed to run the business in their patch. Serve as the primary orchestrator between corporate and the field and ensure leadership is aligned on business results and plan of actions to take. Activate the strategic partner ecosystem to enable and drive results. Identify failure points and orchestrate resources to mitigate.

Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy, Planning, and Delivery:

  • Creates and orchestrates strategic go-to-market (GTM) plans for Azure across sales, marketing, consulting, customer success, and partner functions, supporting One-Philanthropies, cross-functional execution as appropriate. Collaborates with the partner organization to guide and support the execution of programs to recruit and enable partners to achieve target capacity and quality. Defines and analyzes key performance indicators (KPIs) and scorecard metrics for Tech for Social Impact. Fosters alignment of investments and monitoring of growth opportunities across the nonprofit sector. Considers relevant aggregate business metrics (e.g., revenue, scorecard, and share) and enables measurement of KPIs against revenue and scorecard metrics. Drives GTM strategy and lands growth plans). Develops competitive strategies to drive target market share gains, and actively manages relevant stakeholders to drive the local product marketing growth strategy. Drives a functional team in understanding and executing strategy plans. Assesses and compares activity and impact across strategy plans.

Product Advocacy:

  • Acts as a primary product spokesperson and Azure evangelist for the nonprofit sector, inclusive of Tech for Social Impact developed products. Leverages product, industry, market, and competitive knowledge, as well as technical expertise to develop localized competitive strategy, position the value proposition, and tailor messaging to both internal (e.g., sales and marketing readiness) and external audiences (e.g., press, analysts, partners, user community, customers). Develops strategies to influence cross-selling scenarios and attach points between commercial solution areas. Provides guidance to sales teams (e.g., development of propensity models) in customer engagements and shares expertise to guide partners. Leads strategic orchestration efforts with internal stakeholders.

Business Development:

  • Supports the creation and pursuit of white-space growth opportunities across Azure. Leverages knowledge of revenue, share targets, and Tech for Social Impact global capabilities in order to develop strategies that maximize performance across commercial solution areas. Builds relationships and drives regular engagements with relevant stakeholders to operationalize competitive strategies and land implementation of solutions that drive strategic impact and increased market share for Microsoft and partners.

Industry Expertise:

  • Completes the required training and seeks additional learning opportunities to obtain relevant nonprofit expertise and certifications pertinent to the role and the sector itself. Proactively builds and maintains knowledge of Microsoft's and other industry-relevant solutions and other capabilities. Proactively builds solid knowledge of the industry, including trends, policy implications (e.g., privacy), and competitors to act as a subject matter expert and inform decisions on pursuit or withdrawal. Leads communication to provide feedback across the ecosystem (i.e., cross-pollinating information across teams/industries) to other teams (e.g., sales, marketing, engineering) on future product trends or sales blockers and to guide industry solutions team members in a wide variety of specialties, leveraging deep industry knowledge to articulate nuances and anticipate gaps. Advises and presents at industry communities. Provides recommendations on accounts and establishes a learning baseline for less experienced colleagues. Proactively seeks out additional training to build on career competencies, including information that adds to the understanding of customers' businesses, and shares it with team members.
