Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers & insights from their data through data visualization.
Power BI Reporting & Exploration team's mission is to empower everyone to better understand their data and effectively communicate insights. We are looking for a front-end Software Engineer II to work on the modern user interfaces that are performant, reliable, secure, responsive, and accessible. You will apply the latest open-source web technologies, such as React, Angular, TypeScript, and D3.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of industry software engineering experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and a modern web framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue)
- 4+ years of industry software engineering experience developing and operating complex systems using C++, C#, Java, OR Python
- 2+ years of demonstrated technical leadership in shipping high-quality cloud services and/or applications
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with building, deploying, and operating applications and services on cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Experience with using big data, streaming, and analytics (e.g., Spark, SQL, Power BI)
- Experience with database/compiler internals and containerization technologies (e.g., B+ trees, query optimization, SQL query compiler, Kubernetes, Docker)
- Experience with using data visualization technologies (e.g., D3, Highcharts)
- Startup mentality to move and iterate rapidly, work across disciplines, and focus on customers
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

- Deliver world-class user experiences and planet-scale cloud services to customers in collaboration with architects, UX designers, and product managers
- Design, code, test, and operate applications that are performant, reliable, secure, responsive, and accessible UI effectively abstracts customer workflow concepts.
- Deploy and operate production services that customers trust and depend on
- Contribute as a technical leader to the product vision, roadmap, architecture, and planning
- Make engineering investments and build reusable components to ship faster with higher quality and consistency
- Work with customers to make them successful and understand their unmet needs
