Qualifications
Minimum required qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 6+ years experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles
- OR equivalent experience
- Business Communications: The ability to communicate clearly, diplomatically and effectively to an audience that may include, staff, investors, stockholders, stakeholders, clients, and others verbally and through announcements, newsletters, memos, annual reports, status reports, and other media.
- Cross-team Communication: Ability to communicate across teams, which consists of communicating through various means. This includes presentations and other communication methods to receive consensus, buy-in, or informing key stakeholders of current process/project status.
- Executive Relationships: The ability to interact confidently with senior leaders of the organization in order to present/defend/clarify concerns or issues regarding an existing project, program, or solution. This includes the ability to confidently address difficult questions, handle push back from a high-level audience, and maintain an executive demeanor while engaging in difficult or sometimes high-pressure situations.
- Influence Others: The ability to garner support for initiatives by gaining the respect of others and inspiring trust and confidence.
- Negotiation: The ability to achieve mutually satisfying agreements in negotiations with others by listening to their objectives, acting as the company's representative to effectively communicate the company's objective, and seeking common ground and collaborative solutions.
- Oral Communication: The ability to make a verbal message understood and to receive/understand messages during in-person or remote (e.g., telephone) interactions.
- Presentations: The ability to create and deliver formal presentations to others. This includes sharing information on a range of topics in a clear, concise, engaging and convincing manner; commanding the audiences attention; developing effective presentation materials (e.g., handouts, visual aids); and handling questions or argumentative positions from the audience.
- Written Communication: The ability to prepare clear, accurate, and understandable written text, and follow the basic rules of spelling, grammar, and punctuation. This may include memos, emails, proposals, reports, and professional or general correspondence.
Responsibilities
Business Operations
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders and teams to create and implement execution plans.
- Leads and oversees processes to ensure alignment across groups.
- Communicates plans and commitments clearly across stakeholders.
- Reviews process execution and performance to ensure alignment with business priorities.
- Sets effective practices for strategy execution defined by leadership.
- Contributes to organizational design and facilitates implementation of plans and strategies.
- Establishes key success indicators to streamline business strategy execution.
- Oversees corporate governance and performance management.
- Drives business direction and manages the planning process.
- Ensures adherence to privacy and compliance.
- Executes business plans to ensure continuity of operations.
- Designs complex budgets and develops forecasting plans.
- Tracks financial progress and manages budgets with significant negotiation.
- Identifies actions for performance improvement and anticipates business challenges.
- Collaborates with leaders on resource management planning.
Executive Leader and Team Communications
- Leads executive-level communication with internal audiences.
- Ensures alignment with business priorities.
- Develops content and messaging for the team's mission and key projects.
- Proactively seeks out relevant content to communicate to the organization.
- Optimizes the leader's time by organizing daily communications.
- Performs triage and ghostwriting on behalf of the leader.
- May perform executive-level communication with various audiences.
Maximizing/ Extending the Leader
- Supports the leader in key business management areas (e.g., goals, priorities, culture, communications, budget, industry knowledge).
- Synthesizes insights and leverages expertise to influence the leader and leadership team.
- Oversees content creation within the organization and industry.
- Leads audits of Teams and SharePoint memberships, ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity.
- Influences and advises on strategic decisions, content, and expertise.
- Manages and builds relationships with leaders to optimize their time.
- Interacts with high-level partners and stakeholders at scale.
- Leverages key partnerships to drive the leadership team's agenda and ensure follow-up.
- Provides direction for breaking down complex information into actionable steps.
- Creates alignment within partnerships by synthesizing ideas and creating action plans.
- Carries out reporting and exception management as required.
- Organizes executive visits, including global events with customers.
Organizational Health
- Supports and enables a healthy scorecard for the team/organization.
- Promotes and influences culture initiatives aligned with People Strategy.
- Connects leaders and teams to One Microsoft Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) plan resources and guidance.
- Partners with HR, leaders, and business management on applying company guidance.
- Accelerates progress related to culture and inclusion.
- Defines communications and action plans in response to employee signals.
- Capitalizes on team strengths and identifies development areas.
- Tracks the use of role-based compliance trainings and new trainings (e.g., security).
- Drives training completion rates.
- Plans and executes trainings and/or programs as needed.
Special Project/Programs and Initiatives
- Drives cross-team projects to meet changing business environments and manage complex business needs.
- Engages in project management or acts as a project/program manager.
- Ensures organization-wide implementation of strategic efforts.
