Microsoft Planner is an AI powered tool to manage your tasks, to-do lists, plans, and projects across Microsoft 365 apps. We’re looking for a Product Designer II with work experience that demonstrates an interest in people, a respect for craft and a dedication to delivering well-crafted product experiences. Being highly creative with a love for solving design problems at all levels – from big picture to details – is essential.

Working on Planner, you’ll be part of a team fundamentally changing the way people plan and manage projects, track and complete tasks, and collaborate with others. You’ll work within a multi-disciplinary Design Studio, with researchers, writers and engineers who are entrusted to innovate on the Planner experience used by millions of people every day across the planet. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience working with Program Management, Engineering, Marketing and Usability Researchers.
  • 2+ years experience shipping products, services, or games and/or delivering to customers as a result of an end-to-end design process.
  • 2+ years experience using Figma and techniques including auto-layout, components, and variants.

      Other Requirements:

      • All applications must include a digital portfolio demonstrating breadth, creativity and craft in related fields.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
        • OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 3+ years experience working in product or service design
        • OR equivalent experience (e.g., demonstrated experience working in product or service design or using design thinking to solve problems).
      • Project management, communication, and presentation skills.
      • Experience with enterprise task management tools.
      • Interest in and aptitude for learning new technologies and design skills.
      • Hands-on experience in a secondary field such as motion design, visual design, front end software engineering, or industrial design.
      • Ability to prioritize across multiple projects with various stakeholders and timeline constraints.
      • Ability to think conceptually about design and information architecture.
      • Understand the array of technical constraints, user goals and business requirements that shape current and future products.

      Product Design IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

      Responsibilities

      • Generate, ideate, and iterate UX solutions to improve designs by synthesizing ideas, facilitating design sprints and collaborative activities.
      • Scenario development, user flows, wireframe and prototypes for new features and improving existing areas of the Planner product.
      • Rapid exploration via prototyping, activating User Research insight-gathering activities, and leveraging toolkits and reusable components built across Microsoft’s network of design studios as needed.
      • Work side-by-side with Engineering, pursue a deep understanding of our objectives, and adapt their deliverables, process and communications in pursuit of our key results.
      • Low and high-fidelity UI and interaction designs aligned to existing OS/Platform toolkits.
      • Delivery of enterprise-focused scenarios incorporating configurability, solutions for technical and scaling constraints, and industry or governance/regulatory requirements.
      • Efficient and adaptive communication skills required to maintain close partnership with User Research, Product Management, Engineers, Customer Support, Content Designers, Operations, and other essential collaborators in creating digital tools.
