Overview

The Windows Servicing and Delivery Team (WSD) at Microsoft partners across the entire company to design and drive new features/software which impact millions of customers on a global scale. WSD is hiring a Software Engineer II to develop the tools which will support engineers across the team.


As a Software Engineer II, you will partner across the entire company to design and drive new features/software which support the WSD team. You will have the opportunity to analyze data, work on key tools and take a customer-focused problem-solving approach. You will engage with customers and other teams across the company to improve part of the current Windows product release cycle.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with a focus on design and development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience programming with C#, SQL and Kusto.
  • 2+ years of experience building reliable, distributed systems at scale.
  • Experience in software design and development.

Other Requirements

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data analysis to support making decisions.
  • Problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • 4+ years experience with software design and development.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end software development.
  • Work with Product Managers to design and develop new features and tools.
  • Work with peers to plan and prioritize the development and test strategy to ensure high quality and timely delivery of fixes and tools.
  • Build modern distributed highly scalable Azure-based systems to support Windows Analysis Based Selection of Test jobs and analytics.
  • Understand requirements, analyze data, and create complete design specifications.
  • Work cross-team to integrate with partner teams, Operating System feature teams, and their systems/test content.
  • Collaborate with the Test team to identify blockers in execution, resolve, and automate the steps.
