Overview
Azure Edge+Platform [E+P] is responsible for Microsoft’s Operating Systems, IoT and Edge products, Engineering Systems, and Health Platforms that span cloud-to-edge and edge-to-cloud. E+P is the platform team for the company and the foundation upon which virtually every Microsoft product and service, like Azure, Xbox, HoloLens, Visual Studio, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Teams, is built. E+P products and services enable engineers to build out, deploy, manage, monitor, and secure Azure, Windows, and the rest of Microsoft. Additionally, E+P is responsible for several multibillion-dollar businesses of its own including Windows and Azure Monitor. E+P’s mission is to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more, meeting them where they live, work, and make decisions-at the edge.
Engineering Systems [ES] is a team in Azure Edge+Platform that builds and operates the Engineering System for two of the largest businesses at Microsoft: Azure and Windows. We provide our engineers, who work on code ranging from Azure Services to Windows and Linux based products, with tools and services to empower them to deliver world-class quality and secure products, with efficiency and high developer productivity, in a fiscally responsible way. This in turn helps enable Microsoft to deliver more functionality, of higher quality, with better security, and do it faster and more economically.

Our company-wide platform comprises of the software inventory system that integrates with and underlies many of Microsoft’s internal engineering tools and processes, and an operational intelligence solution that provides a 360-degree views of the security, privacy, compliance, reliability profiles of each piece of software Microsoft delivers to customers. Our platform and experiences enable Microsoft to deliver secure, reliable, and compliant cloud services to millions of customers around the world.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a bias for action and ability to think out of the box. You will work with a very talented and agile team of software developers that iterates fast and prioritizes delivering business value to customers.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with efficient data structures, algorithms, asynchronous programming, and high-performance data processing
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building scalable and highly available cloud services
- Experience building integrated services spanning multiple regions and/or clouds
- Solid CS fundamentals, fluent in multi-threaded, asynchronous programming, architecting at scale
- Good technical design and communication skills
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Develop highly reliable and available cloud services providing web APIs, UX and data that power business critical engineering systems
- Develop metadata driven analytics solutions that help drive business insights and decisions for all software solutions from cloud services to native apps
- Work with software teams across Microsoft to better model and inventory software topologies and relationships
- Leverage data science and LLMs to extract actionable insights and remediations from live and historical data
