Microsoft Greater China Region

Microsoft GCR is multi-billion-dollar operating unit that serves 3 diverse & vibrant sub-regions: Hong Kong, Mainland China and Taiwan. As part of the greater Asia region, we work with a vast network of partners to enable digital transformation of commercial & public sector customers in their quest to achieve more.

The GCR Finance team partners closely with the sales & marketing teams to identify growth opportunities, accelerate revenue, optimize resources allocation, nurture a strong compliance culture, and deliver upon statutory & tax local requirements.

The team is structured in 4 main groups: Compliance, Stat&Tax, Multi-Country, and Area Headquarters, and its members are geographically distributed across all GCR and Asia countries.

Job Purpose

This is a very exciting role in the GCR Finance team. In this capacity, you will be the member of the Hong Kong Subsidiary Leadership Team and the finance business partner for the Hong Kong Country Manager.

You will partner closely to execute on their strategy/growth agenda, nurture a culture of compliance and drive the operational rigor across the sub-region.

You will deliver these outcomes by partnering very closely with your finance colleagues (GCR Multi-country finance team, S&T team, Area AHQ and Asia Finance). As such, you are expected to play a key role in facilitating cross team collaboration.

You will also be the closest to our customers, as such customer centricity is paramount. You are expected to be on the frontline with our commercial team delivering the value of our Microsoft solutions through direct engagement, such as covering the “Finance room of the

house” on deal investments/negotiations and delivering our Modern Finance story with our customers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
    • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
    • OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in finance positions. Previous business partnership roles in subsidiaries/areas is a differentiator.
  • Ability to operate and thrive in a fluid/uncertain environment.
  • Ability to influence, establish credibility, trust, and partnership at all levels of the organization.
  • Fluency in English

Responsibilities

The Country Finance Lead/CFO is the Finance Partner to the Hong Kong Country Manager and is a key member of the Country Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate must have a growth mindset, act as an entrepreneur that drives business impact, and continuously learn and innovate. You have a capability to actively contribute and build strong collaboration within diverse and virtual teams. You display a can-do attitude and are able to lead projects and processes improvements initiatives autonomously.

Your core responsibilities are focused around our four key pillars:

(1) People:

  • Foster a Microsoft Company owner mindset. Develop your own capabilities to bring deeper internal and external awareness of customers, competitors and industries.
  • Maximise the potential of our finance organization by working effectively beyond reporting lines and geographies.
  • Be the functional lead of country dedicated finance resources, whilst enabling the success of the business insight hub supporting the local business.

(2) Prioritisation:

  • Drive longer term planning, set strategies and align to resource allocation for maximum return & long term growth in the local market aligned to propensity models and targeted share gains.
  • Continually monitor resource allocation and ROI and make adjustments as required to maximise returns.
  • Ensure revenue accountabilities and controllable costs are met on a quarterly basis and deliver performance goals across the key solution areas.
  • Simplify & reduce time spent on internal rhythm of the business.
  • Drive strong opex execution on the ground (e.g. ECIF)

(3) Partnership:

  • Leverage deep actionable insights to drive topline revenue, customer adds, and consumption growth, by industry based on propensity modelling.
  • Special focus on accelerating Azure advanced workload consumption.
  • Engage externally directly with BDMs and Partners around Digital Transformation, and connect MS solutions to customer priorities within different industries to help land customer wins.
  • Drive programatic collaboration with key functions to support deal constructs. Focus on customer aquisition, retention, and lifetime value.

(4) Protect:

  • Compliance leadership & tone, monitor and support management’s responsibility to mitigate risk with special focus on preventing corruption, unethical sales, spend management, privacy and concession & discounts.

  • Leverage insights from area/region and drive strong execution in Hong Kong market.
  • Coach and mentor finance peers and country sales team members.
