As a Senior Software Engineer, for this position your primary focus will be Engineering Excellence. You will be looking into ways to improve Dev Agility Product Quality, Technologies used for Bing. You also would be working with product teams (Dev, PM and Design) to identify what is the next innovation that would drive user engagement and keep them coming back. You will be working with multiple partners sharing your learnings and helping them deliver impact and shape the overall product.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java or JavaScript
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
    • OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java or JavaScript
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java or JavaScript
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with Web Technologies and Rendering libraries. Experience with open source technologies like React, Web Components.
  • Experience with advanced data structures and algorthms


Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering Excellence: Drives automation, develops tools, and ensures compliance with security and privacy standards. Stays current with new trends and technologies, sharing knowledge with the team.
  • Coding: Leads debugging, code reviews, and ensures code quality by applying best practices and coding patterns. Mentors others to produce maintainable code and optimizes performance.
  • Reliability and Supportability: Manages live service operations, resolves complex issues, and integrates telemetry for system monitoring. Develops playbooks for incident resolution and ensures SLA adherence.
  • Implement: Oversees deployment processes, plans projects, and conducts experiments to improve product effectiveness. Breaks down long-term vision into actionable milestones and ensures safe deployments.
  • Design: Creates design documents, develops system architecture, and leads testing to ensure reliability and performance. Coordinates with other teams to manage dependencies and optimize solutions.
  • Understand User Requirements: Gathers user feedback through various channels and incorporates insights into future designs. Defines critical metrics for measuring customer value and improves user experience.
