The Edge Security Platform team in the Azure Edge + Platform Group is looking for a talented, creative, motivated and driven software architect to push the security bar of Microsoft's Linux offerings to a whole new level. This team owns the Microsoft Linux security strategy and is focused on building state of the art security systems for a wide variety of Microsoft’s current and future products.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Cloud Background Check:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
    • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in Software design, coding, debugging and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in security, system and kernel development
• 5 years' experience working on commercial software development
• At least 5 years' Experience developing software in Rust/C/C++
• Ability to convey complex concepts effectively
• Ability to effectively navigate uncertain situations and make well-informed decisions amidst ambiguity
• Ability to collaborate effectively across various teams and communities, fostering productive partnerships

• Knowledge of computer architecture, operating system kernel, and hypervisors
• Knowledge of building and maintaining mission critical online services
• Experience in developing & creating platforms
• Experience with ship cycles for commercial products
• Knowledge of security hardware such as TPM

• Experience working with open source community with successful upstreaming track record

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will work as an architect on designing, evangelizing and building complete security solutions. You will have the opportunity to work on one or more layers of the security stack, ranging from Trusted Platform Modules to secure enclaves all the way to critical security services to secure high value assets like AI/LLM models at the edge.


Your responsibilities will include -
· Architecture, evangelization, design, development, and maintenance of the above system
· Leadership of initiatives to deliver complex features, improve product quality, and transform team operations.
· Introduction of state-of-the-art technologies to the team and technical mentorship of team members
· Collaboration with Product Managers, Architects, and security experts on new features.
Identification and implementation of tools to improve team quality and productivity.
