Overview
Microsoft AI (Artificial Intelligence) is looking for a Senior Principal Applied Scientist with expertise in fields like Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Causal Inference, Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Natural Language Generation (NLG), Control Theory, Data Science, Data Mining, or related areas.
This position will be based in either Mountain View, CA, or Redmond, WA.
In this role, you will contribute to the development and implementation of advanced AI methods at a web scale. Key responsibilities include enhancing algorithms for both online and offline systems to deliver scalable solutions, which improve the experience of both users and advertisers. The work impacts Microsoft Ads, Microsoft Audience Network, Copilot, and more.
The team focuses on selecting relevant content such as ads and modeling user interactions. This involves understanding and generating ad content, as well as predicting user engagement with ads on search result pages or conversational interfaces like Copilot. Accurately estimating user interaction metrics, such as click-through rates, is essential for evaluating satisfaction for both advertisers and users.
As part of the Signals Modeling team, the role involves developing machine learning models to predict interactions between users and ads. The team works on all aspects of modeling, including data preparation, feature engineering, model development (e.g., Large Language Models, deep neural networks, linear models, and Gradient Boosted Decision Trees), and model evaluation both online and offline.
Scientists and engineers on the team work at the intersection of machine learning and economics, managing both online and offline workflows. Their goal is to utilize signals of user and advertiser intent to allocate ads and set appropriate prices
