Overview
Microsoft Ads Fraud Detection operates at the intersection of Security and Machine learning. We design and develop fraud detection algorithms that run at webscale in real time and protect billions of dollars of revenue from fraudsters. Our algorithms need to run in a high precision/ high recall operating point.
This role is available in Redmond, WA or Mountain View, CA.
We are always in a race with fraudsters to design new ways to detect fraud. As a Software Engineer II-Fraud Detection with our team, you'll be responsible for designing and building infrastructure to collect real-time fraud detection signals at Internet Scale from various data sources and developing our next generation fraud detection service that scales to Millions of QPS while keeping privacy in mind. You will develop our next generation tools for inference, analysis and anomaly detection. You will keep Security First mind set and design secure-by-design systems.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience with infrastructure design.
- 2+ years of experience with distributed systems, data processing and online service development.
- 1+ years of experience with performance optimization.
Other Requirements:
Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in infrastructure design in Fraud or Risk related areas.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

- Design and develop fraud signal collection and processing service that runs in real time and operates at web scale.
- Develop our next generation fraud detection service to run fraud detection algorithms at scale across various business components.
- Ideate and Develop tools for scalable data analysis, anomaly detection that act as a force multiplier.
- Strive for continuous performance optimization and Security resilience for all infrastructure components for team.
- Train production Machine learning models that fight fraud.
