Overview

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy Safety and Quality Program Manager to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.

Take this opportunity to become a leader in our growing DCE Safety and Quality Assurance (SQA) team as we drive the quality, safety, and efficiency of successfully delivering Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs. Our team is looking for someone passionate about process efficiency and innovation who can effectively partner with a broad and diverse group of stakeholders across the CO+I organization. The Safety and Quality Program Manager will be responsible for documenting and developing the internal SQA team processes and tooling as well as directly supporting the DCE Rhythm of Business team processes.

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Washington, D.C., Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX or Phoenix, AZ.

Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates will need to relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location.

This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to (50)%.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 1+ year(s) experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience working in the datacenter industry.

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in tracking, coordinating, and communicating end-to-end project schedules (e.g., epics, sprint/semester plans, milestones, timelines, releases) for a single feature (e.g., product, service). Helps monitor processes and hold stakeholders accountable for following the established schedule and processes. Learns to track and manage dependencies to enable cohesive, connected user scenarios.
  • Works with a feature crew and assists others to orchestrate and integrate efforts for the development and implementation process of document control strategies and feature for cross functional projects with internal teams and external partners. Begins to understand how to collaborate and coordinate across teams to ensure alignment on product management and release, including tradeoffs, adjustments, and improvements as feasible.
  • Learns what the success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results [OKRs], Key Performance Indicators [KPIs] such as quality and performance) of a document control strategy or feature are and how to execute against them. Understands the return on investment.
  • Assists in identifying opportunities and gaps in the implementation of a strategy or feature, including comparison of various quality and performance metrics to various solutions.
  • Assists in managing the staging and implementation plan for piloting/release. Executes and runs the service and business process to achieve desired outcomes. Collaborates across stakeholders to monitor progress and helps adjust as needed, and communicate the status to stakeholders.
