Overview
The Xbox Game Studios Publishing (XGSP) team responsible for the recently released Towerborne, Ara: History Untold, Microsoft Flight Simulator, As Dusk Falls, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, and Tell Me Why is seeking a Technical Director responsible for working with engineers, Xbox Partners, and independent development studios on console and PC games developed for Xbox Services. This role will work in tight collaboration with external teams and share expertise with other Technical Directors in the Publishing group.
The Technical Director must have a proven background in software engineering and experience developing, implementing, optimizing, and maintaining AAA game engines, tools, middleware, content and build pipelines. We’re looking for someone with exceptional communication skills and a self-motivated approach to work. The ideal candidate enjoys collaborating with internal and external partners and has a track record for delivering high quality software. Must have professional experience with C++, shipped multiple titles, and demonstrated solid technical skills with game engine systems and engineering.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or C#
- OR equivalent experience
- 6+ years of experience shipping multiple video game titles in a lead and/or leadership role
- 6+ years of experience with modern game engines such as Unity, Unreal, or equivalent engine platform
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience working with external partners
- Technical skills in a specialist field like AI, Animation, Audio, Rendering, or Tools Pipelines
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Creative problem-solving and algorithm development skills
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- Work in close partnership with various internal and external teams of talented peers to solve technical issues across a diverse games portfolio
