Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    • OR equivalent experience.

  • Proficiency in Spark/Scala
  • Experience with Jupyter notebooks.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

    • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Software and Security Knowledge including Cryptography Technology
  • Solid SQL/Kusto and Data Analysis skills
  • Visualization with PowerBI
  • Data Science, AI and ML experience
  • Strong problem solving, testing, and debugging skills
  • Product engineering experience working on OS components

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $81,900 - $160,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,600 - $174,600 per year.

Data-Driven Engineering is the cornerstone of refining customer experiences for our existing offerings and uncovering new business opportunities within our industry. In the Azure Edge and Platform organization, our dynamic data science and engineering team leverages insights from data to elevate user experiences across devices, cloud, and edge environments. The Hardware and Security Data Intelligence team plays a pivotal role, impacting millions of customers across various solution areas within Microsoft, powering Desktop, Server, and Azure environments. In today's industry landscape, skills in Data, Security, and Services are highly sought after, and this role uniquely integrates all three. Our cohesive team comprises both data scientists crafting ML models and software engineers actively contributing to the product team, generating valuable insights that shape product direction and health. We are currently seeking a skilled software engineer to join us. In this role, your focus will encompass building a robust data pipeline, conducting powerful analysis to gauge customer satisfaction, tracking progress towards key business objectives, enabling leadership to make informed decisions on the product roadmap and investment, and facilitating both near real-time alerting and in-depth analytics. Operationalizing ML models will be a key aspect, infusing intelligence seamlessly into our product.
