We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead our Rust development initiatives across all core components of Microsoft's Rust development stack. This role is ideal for someone who is technically proficient, analytically minded, and eager to drive tangible business impact within a collaborative team environment.

We are a part of Developer Division (“DevDiv”) who’s mission is to empower every developer and their teams to achieve more by building the tools and services developers love and enterprises trust for innovation and delivery. We build developer platforms, tools, and services that enable citizen developers through to professional developers go from idea to code and then to production. We also build cloud services like Copilot, Microsoft Dev Box, Azure Deployment Environments, and many others that are delighting developers and changing the way we build, test, and run code in test and production.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR scientific/engineering displine AND extensive experience in software development or product management in the software industry
    • OR equivalent experience
  • Product management experience

Preferred qualification:

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager with a strong technical background, preferably with experience or a strong interest in Rust development.
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Public speaking on technical topics
  • Experience with engineering systems is a large plus

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market and customer research to identify potential investment and partnership opportunities in the developer space
  • Closely partner with engineering teams to design and deliver features based on customer feedback
  • Engage deeply with early adopters and potential customers to validate the product or early prototypes and bring insights back into product development
  • Evangelize the new product offerings to customers through demos, documentation, and other collateral to increase adoption
  • Be the key contact and advocate for critical internal and external partners
  • Measure our customer reach and provide data-driven insights into where the team should focus their efforts
  • Create a product vision, roadmaps, and drive product announcements
  • Express product goals as Objectives and Key Results
