Principal Software Engineer -Windows Silicon & Systems Integration

The WSSI team is seeking a highly motivated Principal Software Engineer with a strong development background in firmware and drivers on x86/ARM system on chip (SOCs) for windows platform. This person will be crucial in system design and implementation, collaborating with hardware and software architects and developers to establish engineering requirements and deliverables, and oversee the complete integration of systems and software. They will also ensure that product-specific operating systems (OS) deliverables and features are aligned with both internal and external partners.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience
- 2+ years Industry experience in designing, developing, debugging and shipping low-level drivers on Windows
Other Requirements
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,OR Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience
- Experience with software version control systems (such as GIT, ADO, etc.) for large scale software development
- Ability to create and manage continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines
- Understanding of ARM (Advanced RISC Machine) processor family and software development on ARM processor
- Experience in C/C++ developing firmware and/or device drivers
- Knowledge of Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), ARM trust zone, Bootloaders, Board support packages (BSP) is a plus
- Experience with the SOC Hardware/Software architecture and its impact on device and software development cycles
- A deep understanding of software lifecycle in a device development environment and the interplay between software and hardware development and schedules
Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- Drive engineering requirements and implementation
- Works with cross-functionals teams to gather software requirements from various SoC subsystems which are needed for SOC/Product development and end-to-end software integration
- Leads design discussions with the team and shares findings/learnings from investigations, holding ownership for design decisions
- Develops and executes software integration and validation plan by actively collaborating with cross functional engineering teams, SOC partners, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) & original design manufacturers (ODMs)
- Leads validation planning, identifies hardware/software test tools/resources and implementation strategy
- Leads efforts to optimize, debug, refactor, and reuse code to improve performance and maintainability and effectiveness
- Serves as a mentor to the team and guides them about complex features, systems, integration, testing strategies, and automation
- Runs code in simulated or other non-production environments to confirm functionality and error-free runtime across products
- Leads efforts to continually integrate automation features when planning for testing
