Overview

The Digital Experiences (DX) Team in the Global Demand Center is looking for an experienced Director – Commercial Blogs to lead our commercial blog program. Our blog ecosystem has 24 blog properties including Microsoft Cloud, Azure, Microsoft 365, and Security among others. Our team is responsible for publishing 500+ blog posts annually to support priority initiatives including new solution launches, product updates, and thought leadership.

In this role, you will be a strategic leader with experience in how business to business (B2B) audiences leverage blog posts to inform decisions across their buying and consumption journey. In this role, you will showcase your experience in leading editorial teams in a fast-paced and high publication volume settings and using enterprise content management systems and tools. As a B2B blog thought leader, this individual is also on point for leveraging customer insights, traffic data, and editorial and operational best practices to help stakeholders across public relations (PR), Product Marketing, Engineering, and beyond. This role is flexible in that you can work up to 100% from home. This role is in the United States. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 5+ years experience overseeing commercial blog ecosystems or related work experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years experience with blog content management systems within Wordpress, Adobe Experience Manager, or related systems.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 7+ years overseeing commercial blog ecosystems or related experience
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Economics, Public Relations, or related field AND 3+ years overseeing commercial blog ecosystems or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Management experience leading teams of 5+ people.
  • Experience cultivating talent at different levels and drive cohesion across teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience exhibiting written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and drive change through others.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively, while maintaining great attention to detail.
  • Experience building highly collaborative relationships with a diverse range of partners.
  • Track record in creating and presenting to leaders plans, expected outcomes, and dependencies.

Integrated Marketing M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $268,900 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and drive application of blog strategy along with clear communications on the how and what to C-level stakeholders.
  • Lead our team in the continuous adjustments of our blog strategy: blog platform, content strategy, content management systems, search engine optimization (SEO), measurement, governance, and staffing models.
  • Apply ongoing prioritization models and tracking to load balance the work.
  • Work with our team to build points-of-view of digital and blog trends, business opportunities, and areas of risk related to cloud marketing priorities and audiences.
  • Educate key stakeholders on the why and how of digital and blog trends, audience consumption habits, publication pros and cons, and measurable objectives.
  • Develop an understanding of commercial cloud solutions and service offerings, business priorities, competitor set to better inform recommendations and executions.
  • Provide focus and drive when identifying and resolving issues that span across product marketing, PR, engineering, and other stakeholders and creates a shared vision for results.
  • Recruit and nurture an amazing team of blog engine experts and strategists.
  • Ability to evaluate and manage through your team a large staff of vendors who support the business.
  • Ensure the blog platform is updated to the latest web standards and secure by design.
