As a Fiber Delivery Engineer on the Cloud Interconnection + Acquisitions (CI+A) Team you will contribute to building a world-class network infrastructure by working with Metro Dark Fiber, Long-Haul Fiber, subsea, and Lit Wave circuits. With a flexible workplace, you can work from home partially or fully and/or come to the office on an as needed basis.

As a Fiber Delivery Engineer you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
    • OR equivalent experience

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 1+ year(s) experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Experience with ISP / OSP construction, Telecom Architectural and Optical Transport
  • Experience with Network/optical engineering or photonics and workflow management
  • Ability to read and understand High Level Network design documentation

Technical Program Management IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $81,900 - $160,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,600 - $174,600 per year.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Frontline project management for Inside Plant (ISP) optical fiber, Metro Dark Fiber, Waves, Long-Haul, OOB Circuit delivery by producing and maintaining schedules, reporting, and other project related tasks.
  • Accountability for communication with all peers and departments to insure proper project planning and maintenance of accurate cable records and updates.
  • Optical fiber test results analysis for Microsoft’s metro, regional fabric, and long-haul networks are delivered adhering to Microsoft Standards
  • Gather and provide feedback on lessons learned, best practices, and innovations on process/procedures and tools to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Create, plan, manage, and communicate end-to-end project plans with stakeholders and teams to ensure on time delivery. Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities and communicate to stakeholders and other teams to drive resolution.
  • Enable structure, rhythms, and processes to comprehensively manage circuit delivery activities and critical dependencies required to ensure attainment of network demand commitments & achievement of targets.
