The goal of the Search, Ads, News + Edge team is to provide key insights that help Microsoft make better financial and business decisions. The group is responsible for delivering advertising that seek to empower our users by bringing them closer to the people and information that matter most to them. Our team is at the center of Microsoft's financial activities for the Consumer business, being a key strategic partner to a diverse set of stakeholders: Senior Finance leaders, Consumer Leadership Team, Engineering groups, and Sales and Marketing teams.
Finance Managers in our team help us transform the way we measure business performance, manage resources, and lead financial activities using business intelligence, modeling, and analytics. As a Finance Manager - Search, Ads, & News, you will have a unique opportunity to use your insights and strategic thinking to partner with leaders on financial analysis, financial decisions and investments, and process transformation projects.
We are looking for Finance professionals with efficient modeling and analytical skills combined with executive presence. The ideal candidates will be able to dive into the details and understand the key drivers as well as effectively communicate results/drivers to business partners including executives. Will also exhibit curiosity, is a fast learner and has a passion to understand the business models and drivers in our Consumer business and products.
This role does require you to be onsite 2-3 days a week.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field
o OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, finance, or related field
o OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 3+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience
o OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 5+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance work experience
o OR equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with Microsoft financial processes and reporting technologies & systems, such as MS Sales, Mercury, Plancast, MSRA, etc.
- Advanced prioritization, and organization skills
- Maturity and drive for results and impact competencies
- Proficient in interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with cross-group collaboration and demonstrating executive presence
Financial Analysis IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $75,100 - $148,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $98,800 - $163,300 per year.

Responsibilities
Prioritize
- Contributes to analysis of present and future financial performance of various products, segments, or other businesses. Assists more senior team members to conduct analysis and research studies of financial plans, acquisition activity, and future opportunities.
- Assists in the execution of annual business planning and forecasting process. Gathers insight and contributes to analysis and research to support preliminary and adjusted forecast cycles.
- Provides support to peers and counterparts during financial close periods. Prepares recurring financial reporting, forecasts, and presentations, and updates as necessary through the reporting cycles. Determines financial results (e.g., revenue, profitability, COGS) compared to expected budget and projections. Identifies variances to provide insights to management and inform future projections.
Partnership
- Serves as Finance contact for partners for all revenue, expense, and compliance questions related to reporting and analysis. Contributes insights for financial plans, variance analysis, resource optimization, investments, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and driving margin accountability. Manages and executes processes through engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
- Learns and applies the foundational aspects of Microsoft Finance (e.g., financial systems, policies and procedures, key metrics, historical performance, reporting and forecast requirements) and business (e.g., monetization strategy, market, key drivers of profitability) to collect information, perform technical analysis and modeling, and complete standardized reporting.
- Improves current methods used in collecting data, developing automated financial reporting, and forecasting tools, and creating standard and ad-hoc reports. Learns how advanced technology is leveraged in Finance and across Microsoft to provide greater depth of analysis.
- Communicates recurring and ad-hoc results in a logical and understandable message.
Protect
- Ensures compliance with company policies, legal standards, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and monitoring accuracy of financial documents and business processes. Drives corrective measures. Supports questions regarding documentation, policy adherence, and requirements. Recommends approved instruments and processes. Remains current on all company policies and procedures and updates others.
