The Senior Labor Relations Manager will serve as a part of the Gaming Human Resources team, partnering closely with Business Leaders, Human Resources (HR) Business Partners, and Union Representatives. This role will help ensure the application of Microsoft’s labor principles and prioritize a labor management relationship built on trust, respect, integrity and accountability. Responsibilities

  • Union Relations: Maintain positive relationships with union representatives and leaders.
  • Develop and Implement Policies: Create and enforce labor relations policies and procedures.
  • Grievance Management: Managing the union grievance process to include working with union representatives, grievance handling, and arbitration preparation.
  • Contract Administration: Interpret and administer labor contracts related to issues such as wages, scheduling, hours, union practices and other terms and conditions of employment.
  • Contract Negotiations: Provide support in collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to labor laws, regulations, and contractual obligations. Engage in policy and contract interpretation; employee counseling and recommendations; problem solving and workplace dispute resolution.
  • Training and Support: Provide training and guidance to managers and HR on effective labor relations practices.
  • Communications: Maintains a feedback loop with HR Legal for any business decisions that may impact union represented employees.
  • Dispute Resolution: Resolve potential labor disputes and ensure positive employee-labor relations.
  • Advice and Counseling: Advise management on labor issues, regulations, and best practices.
  • Project Management: Experience leading and executing projects in a complex and matrixed organizational environment and work on several diverse projects at the same time

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management, Labor Relations, Business Administration, Organizational Behavior, HR, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or related field AND 7+ years experience in experience in HR, mediation, investigation, or ER-related roles
    • OR Juris Doctorate or Master's Degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Human Resources (HR), Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Industrial Relations, Law, or related field AND 4+ years experience in HR, mediation, investigation, or employee relations (ER)-related roles
    • OR equivalent experience.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in labor relations or a related field, with experience in collective bargaining, contract administration, grievance procedures, and dispute resolution.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, along with impactful leadership and management abilities. A thorough knowledge of labor laws and regulations is essential
  • Ability to maintain good judgment and composure in fast-paced, environments
  • Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) Professional in human resources (PHR) certification or equivalent.

Employee Relations IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year.
