We are the Microsoft Security AI Applied Research team, a group of dedicated and innovative experts specializing in applying machine learning and artificial intelligence to cybersecurity research. Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize customer pain points and market needs in cybersecurity and translate them into long-term research vision and strategy that leverage AI/ML technologies and create non-linear transformation in the security domain.
  • Collaborate with researchers and product PMs across Microsoft Security to define and scope research sub-projects and set measurable success metrics and OKRs for each sub-project.
  • Manage research project execution, including setting and tracking schedule, milestones, KPIs, reviews, checkpoints, etc.
  • Ensure data quality, availability, and compliance for the research projects, by working with stakeholders across Microsoft to meet all data privacy and compliance requirements for commercializing the research in security products.
  • Establish and enforce data handling and governance standards on security data across all product offerings, that enable delivering customer value while meeting all privacy and compliance requirements.
  • Communicate research progress and blockers for research initiatives with stakeholders regularly, articulate responsibilities and hold others accountable for delivery, and build new partnerships across the company.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmen
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Experience in handling data privacy and compliance requirements for AI/ML research projects.
  • Experience in creating long term research vision and strategy, framing research problems, and defining success metrics and OKRs for research projects.
  • Proficient knowledge of AI/ML technologies and their applications in cybersecurity.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and dynamic environment.
Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
