We are looking for an experienced Principal Data Scientist - to conduct analytics for Content ecosystem growth team, which is responsible for all content acquisition and business development with media partners. At Microsoft we have access to vast data sets. Our goal is to connect perceptions, behavioral, and financial data to uncover unique insights that help drive decisions. The role involves working with the leaders across Content team, Product team, Ranking team and other teams to acquire more publishers for MSN and ensure they become successful.

This role requires technical depth and experience leveraging statistics, data analysis & visualization to drive business insights that lead to action and successful business outcomes. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering deep analytical insights on the key drivers that drive business success.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the content team to understand business problems, collect, organize, and analyze data from multiple environmental sources, telemetry systems
  • Create KPIs and set goals for key teams, that are directly aligned with business success
  • Perform business modelling that helps identify points of growth and initiate projects with positive long-term ROI
  • Learn and understand a broad range of data resources and know when, how, and which to use and which not to at any given time
  • Create self-service powerful dashboards and reports for various stakeholders through reporting platforms
  • Provide comprehensive analysis of the current state of the product, identify best data sets, Data Science methodologies, algorithms, tools and infra needed to generate insights and measurements that really affect decision making process.
  • Own the delivery of the reporting and insights on a regular cadence to the stakeholders and senior leadership teams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
    • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techn
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical te
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience developing metrics and reporting using technologies such as SQL DBs, Spark etc.
  • 5+ years of data analysis experience with languages like Python/R
Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated background in Data Science and Analytics, hypothesis driven, with a passion for data and a bias for action.
  • Experienced in framing and participating in data-driven business decisions, including measuring, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly complex ideas and concepts to leadership and deliver results.
  • Comfortable with manipulating and analyzing complex, high dimensional data from varying sources to solve difficult problems.
  • Prior working experience with Content related products is a plus.

Data Science IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $135,800 - CAD $253,000 per year.
