The Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) team at Microsoft provides high quality servicing experiences to keep Microsoft customers secure and productive by constantly building and delivering updates to the Azure Cloud and client properties, as well as all versions of the Windows operating system for consumer and enterprise customers. The team is constantly innovating to build and deliver on features requested by our enterprise customers to address the needs for Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server that continues to evolve along with our security landscape. WSD is hiring a Principal Product Manager to help in delivering servicing experiences, ensuring customers - consumer and enterprise alike - are protected and productive.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and capture opportunities and partner across stakeholders to develop vision, strategy, and plans for improving the DNS/DHCP Server on prem and DNS on Azure experience.
  • Identify, evaluate and prioritize opportunities in support of DNS/DHCP Server related technologies.
  • Define and drive the product vision and strategy for Windows DNS/DHCP Server.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement, cross-org alignment, and key design decisions in alignment with business requirements.
  • Apply data driven insights to create business justifications and value proposition for proposed engineering investments.
  • Convert complex scenarios into business requirements and then drive technical feature specifications.
  • Partner with the software engineering teams to implement scenarios that will increase the capability to deliver against critical KPIs.
  • Drive efficiency and quality into the engineering processes in partnership with the engineering lead.
  • Manage schedules, risks, and issues with effective communication to the team, to senior management and company executives, and partners inside and outside Microsoft.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience working with networking technologies and protocols.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of experience with highly complex projects, responsible for activities related to requirement gathering, distilling highly complex business requirements, and writing product features that would meet user needs.
Other Requirements

Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements that are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience with DNS and DHCP Server technologies.
  • 5+ years experience demonstrating ability to build relationships and influence in a matrixed organization.
  • Understanding of Windows internals and diagnostics.
  • Experience with data analytics and utilizing data based and analytical tools.
  • Experience in preparing materials for, presenting and communicating to senior or executive staff.

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.
