Overview

GitHub seeks an enthusiastic Communications Manager to join the Executive Communications team as an executive technical writer and speechwriter. In this role, you will be directly responsible for crafting compelling and creative technical narratives in the Age of AI that drive interest and engagement back to the GitHub platform. We are looking for someone with deep technical expertise who also loves putting pen to paper and seeing their words engage audiences around the world.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be responsible for producing strategic, technical communications for GitHub executives, primarily for GitHub’s Chief Product Officer.

You will:

  • Produce high-quality written materials showcasing deep technical expertise in the executive voice.
  • Craft external and internal speeches for international audiences, including employees, developers, and enterprise technology buyers.
  • Develop technical blog posts, bylines and social media in the executive voice, including external product announcements and internal communications to GitHub employees.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the company to weave technical product narratives into executive messaging.
  • Partner with creative teams and designers to develop visually compelling presentations, including visual communications and brand marketing.
  • Flex your tech acumen and strong writing skills to support other key senior executives as needed for high-priority technical speeches and communications in partnership with other members of the executive communications team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations (in-house or agency), or related field
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 3+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations (in-house or agency), or related field
    • OR Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations (in-house or agency), or related field
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in communications supporting highly visible principals or executive teams; with proven experience as a speechwriter for leaders.
  • 2+ years experience collaborating cross-functionally with technical subject matter experts.
  • Ability to travel as needed (~25%).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of GitHub, technical experience with the GitHub platform and/or other developer and AI tools
  • Passion for and curiosity about the current AI landscape and technical writing.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into simple and compelling storytelling.
  • Love of writing. We will say it again: We are looking for someone who loves putting pen to paper.
  • Presentation design experience (PowerPoint, Google Slides)

Compensation Range

The base salary range for this job is USD $73,500.00 - USD $195,000.00 /Yr.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
