The Teams Security, Compliance, and Information Protection (SCIP) organization significantly contributes to Microsoft's success by implementing features and scenarios that empower customers and users to ensure the security, compliance, and information protection of their interactions in Teams.

We collaborate closely with multiple partner teams to ensure that Teams offers the most effective and comprehensive solutions for communication security, auditing, monitoring, insights, and threat prevention.

We are currently seeking an initiative-taking Software Engineer II with a proven track-record in design and implementation to join our world class team of software engineers. Responsibilities

  • Contributing to the design, building, adaptation, execution, and maintenance of Chat, Calling, and Meeting Protection full-stack solutions in Microsoft Teams.
  • Assisting in the design, implementation, testing, and rollout of multiple APIs for new Security Monitoring, Auditing, and Information Protection scenarios.
  • Effectively collaborating within the Teams organization and with other product groups across Microsoft in the design and implementation of software solutions.
  • Designing, developing, testing, and deploying scalable and reliable cloud-based services and APIs that provide tooling and onboarding solutions for internal customers and partners.
  • Building and maintaining data pipelines and platforms that ingest, process, store, and serve large volumes of structured and unstructured data for analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Acting as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions. Alerts stakeholders as to the status and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems. Responds within Service Level Agreement (SLA) timeframe. Escalates issues to appropriate owners.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with system design.
  • 2+ years of experience working on large-scale services.
  • 2+ years in building and shipping production-scale services.
Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience in designing and implementing large-scale products with multiple product release cycles, and coding in object-oriented languages, including but not limited to C# or Java
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
  • Demonstrated experience working with .Net/C#/Azure and Windows environment.
  • Preferred experience in designing, building, and maintaining complex full stack web applications with a particular emphasis on the UI (interactions, styling, etc.).
  • Experience in developing secure, scalable, and cost-efficient services on the Microsoft Azure platform or equivalent cloud platform.
  • Deep passion for customer-centric approaches, design thinking, data analysis, and emerging technologies.
  • Problem-solving expertise, with the ability to analyze and diagnose service health issues on a global scale.
  • Experience in DevOps culture, particularly for supporting live sites.
  • Experience working with application security, common security protocols, encryption, server technologies, modern authentication, and cloud app authorization architectures.
  • Initiative-taking engineer capable of quick learning on an evolving set of technologies and collaborating with geographically distributed partner teams and peers.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $83,600 - CAD $159,600 per year.
