Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Learning Technical Writer to join our team. As a Learning Technical Writer at GitHub, you will be responsible for creating, managing, and enhancing educational content that helps developers understand and effectively use GitHub’s tools and services. You will work closely with product teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to produce high-quality documentation, tutorials, and learning resources.

Required Qualifications:
The base salary range for this job is USD $58,800.00 - USD $156,000.00 /Yr.
These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.

As a Learning Technical Writer at GitHub, you will be responsible for creating, managing, and enhancing educational content that helps developers understand and effectively use GitHub’s tools and services. You will work closely with product teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to produce high-quality documentation, tutorials, and learning resources.
Responsibilities
- Create and Maintain Documentation: Develop clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for GitHub's products and features. Develop Learning Resources: Produce tutorials, guides, and other educational materials to help users of all skill levels learn how to use GitHub effectively.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Content Review and Editing:Review and edit content produced by other team members to ensure consistency and quality.
- User Feedback: Collect and analyze user feedback to continuously improve the content and documentation.
- Customer Engagement: Engages with customers and addresses customer feedback on content for their areas under guidance. Content Creation: Follows guidelines and standards to develop relevant, technically accurate content designed for a specific product/content/feature area as assigned by a senior team member. Collaborates with team members to understand products/content areas/features and user journeys/jobs-to-be-done (JTBD) to author user-centered content
- Content Improvement: Receives feedback from a senior team member and incorporates changes into content for an assigned area and/or for possible inclusion in a product experience. Uses appropriate tools to move content to publication after review is complete for a particular area as assigned, where applicable. Uses metrics and/or user feedback to assess shipped content for potential improvements. Assists in testing and building customer scenarios. Tools and Operations
- Develops skills necessary for creating and delivering content under the direction of a senior team member. Learns the tools and processes required for content
- Content Strategy: Participate in the development of content strategies to enhance the overall learning experience for GitHub users. Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in GitHub’s products and the broader tech industry to ensure content is current and relevant.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience in writing, content design, content strategy, UX design, information technology (IT), coding/programming, or related field
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, English, Writing, Journalism, Communications, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in writing, content design, content strategy, UX design, information technology, coding/programming, or related field
- OR equivalent experience
- 1+ years of experience in creating and delivering training materials focused on cloud technologies.
- Direct experience using GitHub and contributing to open-source projects.
- Familiarity with content management systems and documentation tools.
- Active participation in the tech community, such as contributing to forums, writing blog posts, or speaking at conferences.
