Microsoft Gaming is growing strong with hundreds of millions of players who are active on some of the best-known brands in the world such as Xbox, Game Pass, Minecraft, Activision, Blizzard, King, Bethesda and many more! We are looking for a General Manager, Gaming Security to lead our efforts to assure our responsibility to those players and our business is at the highest level of excellence and trust. This role will report directly to the Microsoft Gaming Chief Operating Officer (COO). This is a diverse role which requires the leader to have balance as a partner working across Microsoft counterparts (Corporate & Cloud Solutions) to ensure that we have the right tools and services to protect the business. While in parallel leading efforts within the Gaming division assuring deep alignments to services, hardware and game studio programs as you drive security improvements, reduce risk, and ensure players are able to trust us while we deliver fun worldwide.

The General Manager, Gaming Security candidate, aside from having a passion for security, will have collaboration skills and technical expertise to work across the breadth of Corporate IT, Hardware, Data Center, and Game Development environments that exist in the business. People Management

  • Lead and manage a team of security professionals.

Organizational Leadership and Engineering Excellence

  • Develops strategic agenda across the organization ensuring alignment and accountability to industry standard frameworks (NIST) and Microsoft Security Essentials & Foundations (SEF)
  • Drive protective security measures across diverse work environments including Corporate IT, Game Development Ecosystems and Public + Private Clouds
  • Work closely across the combination of business and engineering leaders within Microsoft and Game Studios to develop unified plans and a means of leveraging one another
  • Assurance that execution plans occur which bring together acquired companies along with existing Xbox and Microsoft organizations with purpose of more effectively and efficiently achieving security compliance
  • Develop critical relationships across Business Leadership, Product Development and Game Studios to genuinely understand challenges from their perspectives and turn those into requirements across the breadth of security solutions
  • Shares industry expertise and strategic insight in collaboration with other teams, conducts analyses, and examines customer and technology-related industry trends, industry-specific requirements, or regulations.
  • Acts as a leading in their field to ensure cross-divisional teams develop problem statements and form hypotheses of feature(s)/feature areas (e.g., product, service) to address crucial business, program, customer needs, and/or market opportunities.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of security industry and cross-company best practices, technologies, architecture, emerging technologies and how these can apply to our business.
  • Envisions, architect, deliver and support high-quality Security services across Gaming service platforms, hardware, and development studios.
  • Partner with Microsoft Security, Cloud and Corporate IT programs to ensure ongoing alignment, engineering dependencies and build solutions.
  • Create detailed road maps to coordinate the efforts of engineering and business teams.
  • Effectively collaborate across large organizations and multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years people management experience.
  • 9+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 14+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
    • 10+ years of people management experience managing large teams with dynamically changing requirements, large portfolio of software + services and complex set of support solutions.
    • 10+ years of experience designing and implementing secure systems and architectures, especially those relevant or similar to gaming platforms and online services.
    • 12+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
    • 15+ years expertise in designing and implementing incident response plans and leading an organization that manages cybersecurity incidents effectively.
    • Understanding of the gaming industry, including knowledge of gaming platforms, game servers and clients, online services and digital distribution.
    • Experience running a security team managing risk and gaining stakeholder alignment.
    • Written and verbal communication with both business leadership and peer product teams across a diverse range of partners around the world.
    • Experience leading business groups of 50-100+ employees.
    • Customer-first, business-savvy mindset that in parallel upholds our cultural values.
    • Experience improving security compliance and protections.
    • Expertise bringing together multiple distributed businesses units and acquisitions improving accountabilities while in parallel reducing costs.
    • Understanding of threat intelligence and the ability to stay ahead of emerging threats leveraging known tools and emerging AI security tools.

    Technical Program Management M7 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $198,400 - $323,500 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $218,800 - $357,100 per year.
