The Microsoft Design System team is looking for a Principal Product Manager who thrives at the intersection of innovation and systems thinking as we integrate generative AI across Microsoft products and redefine how humans interact with software.

Our team is focused on ensuring a feature-rich UX platform for Copilot and M365 products (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook) as well as Windows, Bing, and Edge. This team actively builds and contributes to open-source libraries, tools, and communities; and is focused on increasing adoption of Fluent within Microsoft and beyond.

Your focus is establishing and maintaining deep cross-product partnerships and uncovering unmet needs through collaborative processes. This will include using data to drive decision making, defining scope, prioritizing features, and collecting customer feedback in partnership with research and other Product Managers to deliver high-value design solutions at scale.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Product Manager in this role, you will be instrumental in building a large and vibrant Fluent community across Microsoft.

  • Drive Design, UX Engineering, and Engineering orchestration across multiple product teams
  • Develop frameworks for how to build inclusive, coherent AI experiences across a range of features for the Microsoft suite of products.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-discipline teams to create and deliver highly crafted components, patterns, and design documentation.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in a design horizontal team across complex product ecosystems
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Figma to review and comment on work
  • Working at the intersection gen AI, design systems, and product making which will soon transform how humans interact with computers
  • Driving alignment efforts across multiple teams to reach a unified experience strategy
  • Creating experience documentation and supporting adoption of coherent UX
  • Partnering with engineering to deliver cross-platform UI libraries
  • Making product decisions driven by qualitative and quantitative information

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
