Responsibilities

The Bing team is looking for a Data Analysist to broader our responsible AI efforts focused on analysis of online content-based harms like misinformation, hate, and bias. You will be responsible for cross referencing this with other information to drive both short and long-term product improvements through quantifiable metrics.

In this role, you will use web data mining, usage patterns, and user feedback to identify, and analyze new and ongoing content-based threats. You will continuously learn about state-of-the-art machine learning and information retrieval. You will work closely with other analysists, engineers, scientists, and operations teams to advance the organizations’ understanding of the threat landscape, refine and shape future policies, and to drive improvements.

This analysis will be used to drive short and long term improvements to the product. This will include:

  • Understanding responsible AI harms and doing data modeling and analysis to understand how these are exposed to users
  • Mining the web to identify new harms, and harmful narratives.
  • Building and delivering threat assessments which articulate the problem to others and drive product improvements
  • Using analytics to quantify the gains from interventions
  • Navigating a complex landscape with sometimes conflicting principles
  • Providing analysis and insights to backend platform, front end UX, and operations teams.
  • Leveraging your interpersonal skills to collaborate and execute with a diverse team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field
  • OR equivalent experience
  • Background in either security, content moderation, or responsible AI
  • Good understanding of the basic concepts of machine learning (such as model training lifecycle, model evaluation using precision/recall/accuracy, etc).
  • Demonstrated ability to mine data and to find patterns using analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to make connections between disparate events and data

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to work autonomously in an ambiguous environment.
  • Proven communication skills, customer empathy, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 3+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
  • OR equivalent experience.
