We are looking for an experienced Senior program manager to partner closely with key engineering leaders across Azure to drive combined strategy & programs focused on making Azure the safest and most reliable cloud. Your work will include defining and measuring platform Quality success measures via OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), establishing accountability across engineering teams, and managing execution and communication cadence across engineering stakeholders to ensure leaders are informed of progress, risks, and issues. This role enables you to contribute to improving our customer experience on Quality. It is an exciting opportunity to expand knowledge and skills and to work with a globally distributed system. Ability to balance analytical and technical skills with the ability to influence decision makers within Azure engineering team would be vital to delivering impact & results. Responsibilities

  • Drive and support the product quality and reliability strategy for Azure services through ongoing quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Drive improvements within the Quality roadmap using established project, program, and process management methodologies to make Azure the most reliable cloud.
  • Drive continuous improvement to customer and engineer experience via empowerment and accountability leading executive reviews.
  • Quickly innovate and validate ideas through data delivering pilot programs and experiments.
  • Establish closed loop processes, inspecting progress, and be comfortable holding stakeholders accountable.
  • Apply systems thinking and standards approach to solve problems at scale, and through automation.
  • Gather and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify meaningful actions to improve platform quality.
  • Design and drive implementation of reporting by interfacing with business, engineering, finance, and systems teams to provide actionable insights.
  • Contribute to a healthy and inclusive team environment.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years there after.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of experience in building, defining, and cross-functional and/or cross-team project and strategies across multiple organizational units.
  • 2+ years experience driving quality for cloud services.
  • Knowledge of program management practices within and across software development services and models.
  • Understanding of engineering practices followed by cloud services.
  • Experience with implementing Site Reliability Engineering principles to improve and maintain reliability.
  • Experience with Systems and Standards based engineering organizations.



Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
