Overview

Microsoft is a company where passionate innovators come to collaborate, envision what can be, and take their careers further. The Databases organization builds trusted, scalable, AI-ready data services that power applications around the world.

The Azure Managed Redis Infrastructure team builds the platform that powers Azure Managed Redis at global scale. We own the critical systems that deploy, upgrade, monitor, and automatically recover Redis clusters across 70+ regions, supporting highly available, low-latency workloads. We also partner closely with Redis Inc. to bring the latest Redis Enterprise capabilities to Azure.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to solve challenging problems across distributed systems, orchestration, fleet management, and observability. You will own projects from design through production and build systems that directly impact the availability, performance, and engineering velocity of a global cloud service.

Azure Managed Redis is entering an exciting phase of transformation. We are expanding the service footprint, modernizing our orchestration and deployment platform, accelerating release velocity, and raising the bar for reliability and security. If you are excited about building planet-scale distributed systems, applying AI to real-world cloud operations, and shaping the infrastructure behind a critical managed database service, we would love to have you join us.

Responsibilities
  • Lead architecture, design, and technical direction for the runtime infrastructure of Azure Managed Redis, one of Azure's fastest-growing data services.
  • Design and build robust deployment, upgrade, and orchestration systems for distributed Redis clusters running across 70+ Azure regions worldwide.
  • Drive the integration of Redis Enterprise software from Redis Inc. into Azure's managed environment, enabling seamless cluster upgrades while preserving high availability, data consistency, and performance under mission-critical workloads.
  • Architect the end-to-end release platform across infrastructure, application, and observability layers to accelerate release velocity and improve deployment safety.
  • Write high-quality, production-grade code in languages such as C# and Go while modeling best practices for reliability, testability, and operational excellence.
  • Apply AI techniques (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLMs, anomaly-detection models) to enhance DevOps, operations, and engineering workflows — detecting, diagnosing, and responding to issues across the global fleet.

  • 2+ years of experience building and operating distributed, highly scalable online services on Kubernetes in Azure or a similar cloud platform.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools, large language models, or automation technologies to improve software engineering workflows, developer productivity, testing, documentation, or operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve engineering systems, developer productivity, service reliability, or product quality at scale.
