Microsoft Advertising, part of Microsoft AI (MAI), is a rapidly growing business powering global advertisers across search, display, and emerging AI-driven channels. Our Advertising CRM team is building the next generation of customer relationship management solutions that unify advertiser data, enable intelligent workflows, and deliver actionable insights across Sales, Marketing, Operations, Billing, and Customer Success.

We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer Manager to lead key engineering investments within the Advertising CRM & Intelligent Business Platforms organization. This team develops AI-powered CRM, sales enablement, workflow automation, business intelligence, monetization, trust, compliance, and operational platform capabilities that empower Microsoft Advertising's commercial ecosystem.

This role is for an engineering leader who can combine technical depth, solid people leadership, execution excellence, and business platform expertise. The manager will lead a team delivering large-scale enterprise and customer-facing systems in partnership with Product Management, Applied Science, Sales, Customer Success, Security, Privacy, Compliance, Finance, and partner engineering organizations.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.



Responsibilities

Lead and Grow High-Performing Engineering Teams

  • Recruit, coach, and develop software engineers, technical leads, and engineering managers to deliver world-class Advertising CRM, Sales Enablement, Monetization, and AI-powered business platform solutions while fostering a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and innovation.

Define Technical Strategy and Architecture

  • Establish the technical vision, architecture, and engineering roadmap for scalable, secure, reliable, and compliant CRM platforms. Drive modernization using Azure, Dynamics 365, cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and enterprise engineering best practices.

Drive AI Innovation Across Advertising CRM

  • Lead the adoption of Copilot, Generative AI, Agentic AI, and intelligent automation capabilities across CRM and monetization workflows. Enable AI-powered insights, recommendations, predictive analytics, workflow automation, and next-generation sales productivity experiences.

Deliver Business-Critical Platform Capabilities

  • Own execution and delivery of strategic investments spanning customer engagement, opportunity management, quoting, sales enablement, monetization, workflow orchestration, customer intelligence, and AI-powered business process automation.

Build Solid Cross-Organizational Partnerships

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Applied Science, Customer Success, Sales, Finance, Security, Privacy, and partner engineering teams to translate business priorities into scalable platform solutions that drive measurable customer and business impact.

Influence Product and Engineering Strategy

  • Partner with senior leaders across Microsoft Advertising and Microsoft AI (MAI) to shape long-term product vision, technical investments, platform strategy, and operational excellence while ensuring reliability, security, compliance, and sustainable business growth.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership and people management experience.
  • Proven experience leading and scaling engineering teams delivering enterprise-grade CRM, Sales Enablement, Monetization, or business-critical platform solutions.
  • Demonstrated success hiring, coaching, and developing engineers, technical leads, and engineering managers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid architectural expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native services, microservices, and large-scale application platforms.
  • Experience building and operating solutions on Microsoft Azure with a focus on reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence.
  • Experience partnering with Product Management, Applied Science, Design, and business stakeholders to deliver customer and business impact.
  • Solid communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across organizations.
