Responsibility

The Assistant Negotiator, Direct Response supports seasoned negotiator in day-to-day tasks to maintain negotiated schedules for assigned networks/regions. They assist with the preparation of budgets, estimates and analysis to accomplish client objectives and strategies. In this role, the Assistant Negotiator, Direct Response interacts with Client Business Partners, Traffic and Finance and acts as an additional contact with outside media representatives.

Specific Duties

  • Contacting station/network representatives daily to help monitor media clearance and tracking (pre-logs, post-logs)
    • Obtaining and inputting data clearance into internal and external systems/documents
    • Analyzing data for accuracy, creative, budget and other goals
    • Alerting negotiator(s) of daily findings
  • Inputting, sending and confirming revised broadcast buy orders
  • Processing monthly station/network invoices for payment
  • Revising buys in media system (ie: Mediaocean) and confirming changes
  • Maintaining organized buy records
  • Working with the Traffic team to facilitate accurate creative airings
  • Compiling the station/network clearance to support negotiator(s)
  • Communicating issues and/or discrepancies when appropriate
  • Attaining the skills to become a Media Activation Negotiator:
    • Learning how to develop buys from pre-buy to execution
    • Developing effective negotiation skills
    • Establishing relationships with vendors/reps/contacts
    • Assisting in the preparation of budgets and estimates of proposed media plans
    • Helping in the preparation of client-specific reports
    • Becoming a market/network expert; sharing marketplace knowledge
    • Learning and using proper media terminology
    • Gaining expertise in media research tools (eg: Nielsen)

Position Requirements

  • 4-year college degree
  • Computer proficiency; advanced knowledge of Excel a plus
  • Proactive problem-solving ability
  • Highly organized, with the ability to multi-task while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to support multiple negotiators and juggle competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of marketing fundamentals
  • Deadline-oriented with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to collaborate well with staff, clients, and vendors at all levels
  • Client-service oriented

The salary range for this position is posted below.
