Job Description

The Technical Manager role is within Media Operations & Transformation, which is a central team that supports all of IPG Mediabrands’ agencies, through the promotion of technical solutions to meet operational business challenges, drive efficiency and enhance the sophistication of business operations in Canada.

This role entails leading an established team of Analysts & Developers, advising Media Operations leads on technologies best suited for scoped solutions and new technologies to explore that drive us towards our transformation goals. The Technical Manager will work closely with Project Managers & Product Managers to identify and assign the correct technical resources to each project, support in the definition of scope and effort required on projects, while also providing guidance through the translation of technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders. In addition, this role will work with local agency Analytics leads on technical solutions within their own respective agency teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership through guidance, mentorship, application of technical best practices, and management of team’s performance
  • Continuously build, develop, and improve team’s technical level, while maintaining a positive working atmosphere and engaging environment
  • Ensure appropriate technical staff with relevant skillset and expertise are assigned to projects
  • Ensure that toolkit being used is relevant to the job and in line with operational strategy
  • Collaborate with local and global IT departments, and third-party vendors to ensure that all servers, services, tools, and licenses are up to date and running as expected
  • Ensure all scheduled processes, such as SQL Jobs, Adverity datastreams, RPA tasks, etc., are running as expected and address any issues through applicable channels
  • Reinforce use of best practices, champion existing development frameworks, propose solution improvements
  • Monitor, identify and mitigate risks associated with technology projects, including security, compliance and systems reliability
  • Work closely with Director, Media Operations & Transformation and advise about major developments, issues, roadblocks, team performance issues
  • Advise other internal teams of technical solutions to address their business challenges
  • Build and manage relationships with internal technical leads (Canada & Global)
  • Staying abreast of IPG Software development compliance directives
  • Staying up to date with relevant emerging technologies, trends and news

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience leading a team of developers
  • Degree in IT, Business Management, or Business Technology Management
  • Very strong proficiency using SQL, writing complex queries, using dynamic SQL
  • Data Visualization experience (Tableau, DOMO, Datorama)
  • Proven experience creating stable automated processes using variety of tools, scripts and utilities
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in use of Microsoft Power Platform
  • SSIS use and ETL building practical experience
  • Experience with Python, RPA and PVA technologies would be beneficial
  • Intermediate understanding of SQL server management
  • Strong understanding of BILC and SDLC methodologies
  • Knowledgeable in Agile and Scrum PM methodologies
  • Strong technical, business and financial acumen
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency in use of 0365 suite
  • Proficiency in Asana preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Prior experience in marketing analytics, data operations, programmatic media, media agencies, trading desks or relevant start-ups are preferred
  • Experience with Google Marketing Platforms; Amazon marketing platform nice to have
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, interact with senior management & clients, influence corporate strategy, and present actionable findings to executive leadership
  • Understanding of digital media marketing, programmatic media, web metrics, and campaign reporting
  • Knowledge of various measurement and campaign measurement technologies or methodologies, including website traffic analytics software, media attribution methodologies, demand side platforms (DSPs), data management platforms (DMPs) or digital ad operations
  • Proficient in defining/designing/building/managing performance reporting
  • Well versed in the latest trends and Martech advancements
