About the role:
As an Tech Lead/ Eng Manager at Equip, you'll create and lead a new engineering team, focusing on culture, product development, and team empowerment. The role blends technical leadership with management responsibilities, suitable for those with a hands-on engineering background.
We want Leads/Engineering Managers who have a track-record as engineers and want to continue growing as a technical leader focusing on people and product. Your job is to empower each engineer on the team to do the best work of their career-to-date. Each Lead/Engineering Manager is going to customize the role a bit — contributing a blend of technical, people, and product experience.
As one of the early managers in a fast growing company, you’re setting culture not just for engineering but for Equip as a whole. You, along with the rest of Equip leadership and people teams, are responsible for building a diverse, inclusive, and hard-working organization. We are excited to work on this together!

Responsibilities

  • Designing and planning application engineering projects
  • Providing hands-on technical guidance to your team
  • Maintaining subject matter expertise in the information systems and types of data at Equip
  • Championing engineering best practices (version control, testing, documentation, logging, continuous integration) and data quality standards
  • Monitoring key quality metrics and identifying opportunities for improvements in our pipelines and infrastructure
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality work within expected timelines
  • Partnering with technical stakeholders to optimize the flow of data across systems

Qualifications:

  • 2-5+ yrs of engineering leadership experience
  • 8+ years of overall developer experience
  • Have grown and managed teams of engineers
  • Experience with the below technology stack highly preferred:
  • Languages & Frameworks: Java, JavaScript, React
  • DB: PostGreSQL (or other relational databases)
  • Cloud: AWS services
  • Tools: Git, Github
  • Have a strong engineering background: building business specific systems that all other engineering teams use in a scaling company
  • Good product sense, working closely with customers
  • Must have experience building large scale applications with well defined architectures
  • Be able to work Easter or Central time zones. Either 9 - 5 Eastern or 8 - 4 Central
  • Experience developing products is a plus
  • A mix of scrappy startup and big company experience is a plus
  • Experience with healthcare data and/or previous experience working in healthtech is a plus
