Your role

Join Capgemini as a Cost Engineer and become an integral part of our dynamic Global Cost Engineering teams. In this role, you will be responsible for developing detailed technical and tooling cost analyses for a variety of automotive components and systems. Applying activity-based costing methodologies, you will provide critical subject matter expertise to support engineering and purchasing departments, influencing key decisions from early development through to serial production. You will have the opportunity to analyze supplier quotes, drive cost-saving initiatives, and collaborate with program leadership to achieve financial targets.

  • Develop and maintain 'Should Cost' analyses and technical estimations based on component specifications, technical drawings, and Bills of Material (BOM).
  • Identify and propose cost-saving opportunities and optimizations throughout the vehicle development lifecycle to meet cost targets.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Purchasing, and Vehicle Program teams, providing data-driven cost deltas to close gaps between cost targets and supplier quotes.
  • Provide essential cost analysis and data to support negotiation activities during RFQs, change notes, and key vehicle milestones.
  • Employ client-specific methodologies and cost databases to create and deliver comprehensive cost analysis reports and present findings to program teams.
  • Support benchmarking activities and purchasing/engineering commodity strategies to ensure competitive material and tooling costs.

Your profile

  • Good conversational English skills (B2, C1, C2)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, or Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in costing large plastics parts
  • Knowledge of the supplier process and experience working for a OEM or a Tier 1 supplier
  • Proven experience in a design, release, or processing role, specifically with developing variable and/or tooling costs for automotive components.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive production methods and vehicle development processes.
  • Detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs and complex cost details simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Experience working effectively within a global, cross-cultural team environment.
