Your role:

The Head of Software Engineering is responsible for leading the cloud native and custom application consulting team with Capgemini across Australia and New Zealand. This is a diverse role, responsible for consulting practice leadership and management, sales team engagement, partner and technology strategy/alignment, elevating software engineering excellence, to delivering scalable, secure solutions to clients.

You’ll partner with product, architecture, and business leaders to employ AI driven software engineering methods and capability to build modern platforms, as well as modernise legacy applications.

You will be responsible for mentoring and cultivating high-performing teams, working closely with strategic partners, and fostering innovation aligned to Capgemini’s purpose of “unleashing human energy through technology for an inclusive and sustainable future.”

Key responsibilities:

  • Enterprise SWE Experience - you will be a subject matter expert for Capgemini across Australia and New Zealand, who can articulately communicate and build confidence with both business and technical audiences in our clients. Your credibility is your deep enterprise project and domain experience, supported by contemporary knowledge, passion and awareness of the evolving nature of SWE.
  • Thought Leadership - demonstrate ongoing thought leadership and points of view on evolving technologies and trends, in particular AI SDLC tooling and adoption, that helps shape Capgemini’s go-to-market, client propositions and internal strategy.
  • Practice Planning and Execution – setting the strategic direction of the Cloud Native and Custom Application teams, working with sales and pre-sales teams to build pipeline, and deliver against practice growth and financial performance.

Technical Oversight:

  • Delivery – provide oversight into delivery, act as an escalation when necessary as an SME for you team. Ensure ongoing evolution of best practices in software development, testing, and deployment, locally and in conjunction with global teams internal initiatives.
  • Pre-Sales –help shape deals, solutioning and proposals, and oversee the quality of our pre-sales and solutioning teams in partnership with our market units (sales) teams.

Team Management:

  • Build, mentor and lead a high-performing engineering team across multiple disciplines (cloud, custom apps, application modernisation).
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with other Capgemini practices to deliver

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Ability to engage with business and with product owners, architects, and business leaders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Partners. Ability to build strong relationships with key partner stakeholders, and work within an ecosystem of strategic partners.

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Proven expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud native application development.
  • Strong knowledge of modern software development practices, from project management disciplines through to software engineering tools, practices and ways of working.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in enterprise-scale software engineering and transformation projects.
  • Certifications in cloud technologies (AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, etc.).
