Job Description

This role involves the development and application of engineering practice and knowledge in the following technologies: Design of mechanical systems, devices, equipment and machines; installing and maintaining mechanically functioning equipment; simulating a wide range of interactions and evaluate performance in real world scenarios; and develop prototype for manufacturability, testing and validation.

Job Description - Grade Specific

Focus on Mechanical and Physical Engineering. Entry level graduate with limited commercial and technical work experience. Build skills and expertise in a chosen Engineering Discipline. Works to instructions and directions and delivers reliable results. Keen to understand client’s business and needs. Solves routine problems. Organises own time with a short time horizon.

The Weight Management BOM Analyst will lead bill of materials validation to improve fidelity of weight status roll-ups. This individual will generate weight BOM’s on a regular basis and will conduct a thorough analysis to identify issues impacting weight accounting integrity. As needed, they will follow up with an extended cross functional team to confirm part content and weight values.

Daily activities for this role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Download BOM’s from corporate systems followed by detailed analysis and weight tracking
  • Set-up meetings with design teams to review their parts and weights. Confirm content and status
  • Work with Weight Team Leads to provide regular weight status updates to the extended team
  • Support Weight Leads to develop and track weight reduction opportunities list
  • Coordinate component weighing @ suppliers & assembly plants
  • Assist with the validation of prototype vehicle weights comparing them to virtual BOM roll-ups

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • 2+ years of relevant automotive product development experience.
  • Knowledge of the overall program development life cycle
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
  • Experience analyzing data and formulating meaningful conclusions and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient at conducting data analysis and formulating observations
  • Ability to work in a team, build good working relationships and gain consensus
  • Prior experience with mass properties or development of weight estimates in the automotive or Aerospace field
  • Strong communicator both (verbal & written)
  • Self-motivated, works with limited supervision, able to multi-task and prioritize workload
