Job Description

Job Title: Azure Production Support Engineer (L1, L2 & L3)

Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Azure Production Support Engineer to join our Cloud Operations team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting IT teams with a strong Azure platform footprint, leveraging Azure Marketplace tools and services. This role requires a self-starter with excellent troubleshooting skills, a deep understanding of Azure infrastructure, and the ability to manage incidents across multiple support levels (L1, L2, L3).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide L1, L2, and L3 support for Azure production environments.
  • Respond to and resolve production incidents and outages.
  • Lead incident bridges, manage calls, and drive resolution independently.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and security using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.
  • Maintain and optimize Azure infrastructure and resources.
  • Create and maintain automation scripts using Bash, PowerShell, and Terraform.
  • Implement and manage backup, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with security best practices and standards.
  • Collaborate with development teams to enhance application performance and scalability.
  • Document processes, configurations, and system architectures.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote knowledge sharing.
  • Support FinOps practices for cost optimization.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications:

  • Certifications: AZ-900 and AZ-104 (additional Azure certifications are a plus)
  • Experience: 3+ years in Azure platform/infrastructure support roles
  • Scripting: Proficient in Bash, PowerShell, and Azure CLI
  • IaC Tools: Hands-on experience with Terraform and ARM templates
  • Incident Management: Strong troubleshooting and RCA skills
  • Networking: Experience with VNETs, NSGs, ExpressRoute, VPNs, Load Balancers, and Application Gateways
  • Security: Experience with Azure AD, RBAC, Key Vault, and compliance standards
  • Resilience: Knowledge of Azure Site Recovery and backup solutions
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Work Ethic: Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a 24x7 on-call support environment
  • Exposure to FinOps and cost management in Azure
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
