Job Description
- PostgreSQL Database Administrator with over 4+ years of hands-on experience to manage, maintain, and optimize our PostgreSQL database environments.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, and security of our databases while supporting development and operations teams.
- Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL database systems.
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and indexing.
- Ensure database security, integrity, and compliance with internal and external standards.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with development teams to optimize queries and database design.
- Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
- Maintain documentation related to database configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide support during off-hours as needed.
Primary skills
- 4+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL DBA in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, replication, and performance tuning.
Secondary skills
- Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and PL/pgSQL procedures.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix systems and shell scripting.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Nagios.
- Understanding of database security best practices and access control.
