YOUR TASKS

• Design, planning, and deployment of complex Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls, including features such as Threat Prevention, packet filtering, and IDS/IPS functionalities, within a German Sovereign Cloud (KVM Hypervisor) as well as in hardware form.
• Integration of Threat Prevention functionalities to defend against real-time threats.
• Implementation of packet filtering functionalities to control and filter network traffic.
• Management and monitoring of Palo Alto NGFWs using the Panorama management platform.
• Ensuring compliance with IT baseline protection standards, including the implementation of a suitable P-A-P structure (Packet Filter – Application Layer Gateway – Packet Filter) and incorporating IT baseline protection requirements in close collaboration with the project compliance team.
• Creation and development of network diagrams, high-/low-level designs, operational documentation, and operational processes in coordination with both the platform team and the customer.
• Support for firewall automation measures in close collaboration with the SecDevOps team for the deployment and integration of firewalls into the respective system environment, as well as the rollout of firewall rule sets.

YOUR PROFILE

• In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the setup, configuration, and management of Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs).
• Experience with Threat Prevention technologies and their integration into customer environments.
• Solid understanding of packet filtering functionalities for securing networks.
• Practical experience with Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat) in deployment and configuration.
• Experience in system hardening to enhance system security and minimize vulnerabilities.
• Ideally, experience in implementing IT security solutions in accordance with IT baseline protection requirements or current industry security standards.
• Experience in firewall management using Panorama, including the administration of device groups, templates, and policies.
• Basic knowledge of WAN and networking, as well as experience in IT security (e.g., cloud architecture, network architecture, security zones, network segmentation, WAN/LAN connectivity technologies, IT security measures).
• Ability to create clear and comprehensible documentation.
• Several years of professional experience in IT security and network technology.
• Relevant certifications such as PCNSE, PCSAE, PCCSE, Next-Generation Firewall Engineer, or similar are a plus.
• Willingness to acquire new knowledge and to explore new solution approaches or subject areas under the guidance of experienced network and IT security colleagues.
• Very Good level of German and English language.
