About the job you're considering
Our growing team operates across the cloud and infrastructure technologies domains. We’re expanding our engineering capability and are looking for people who understand Linux in real depth.
The role is focused on specific projects and delivering outcomes, which will change regularly. This is not an operations role – you will see a wide range of challenges over time, every project is different. Innovation is at the heart of all we do, which is why you will be utilising various open-source and proprietary technologies.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
If you are successfully offered this position, you will go through a series of pre-employment checks, including:
identity, nationality (single or dual) or immigration status, employment history going back 3 continuous years, and unspent criminal record check (known as Disclosure and Barring Service)
Your role
As a Storage Specialist within Capgemini’s vibrant cloud platform team, you will have a pivotal role in the following types of projects:

- Platform Modernisation – helping clients embrace cloud storage solutions, moving away from complex on-premise solutions.
- Public Cloud Deployment – working with a DevOps or SRE squad, providing expertise across all storage and data domains, often including modern application hosting solutions such as docker, Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift. Optimising how data is stored, persisted and secured – helping to improve resilience, availability, monitoring, automation and security, often in public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), using open source, commercial and cloud platform tools & services.
- Hybrid Cloud - working in environments that integrate on-premises and cloud storage to deal with performance, sovereignty and security of data.
- ERP to Cloud – helping customers adopt public cloud for ERP (SAP, Oracle) solutions, often with complex data storage, resiliency and backup needs.
If you understand the difference that storage and cloud technologies are having on the market and want to develop your cloud skills further, then this role could be right for you.
You can bring your whole self to work. At Capgemini, stiving for equity, diversity and inclusion is part of everyday life, and will be part of your working reality. We have built an inclusive and welcoming environment, for everyone.
Your skills and experience
So, what kind of skills and qualities are we looking for?
- In-depth knowledge of storage technologies, having worked across traditional data centre SAN/NAS and backup technologies. Experience working with storage technologies in public cloud – object, file, backup, archive.
- Can demonstrate having delivered cloud storage-based solutions in a project context having been accountable for technical delivery and quality.
- Knowledge of DevOps and SRE delivery models – being able to work in a team or squad, adopting agile methods and ways of working. Knowledge of modern application hosting platforms beneficial (docker, Kubernetes and/or Red Hat OpenShift).
- Knowledge and experience in one or more public cloud platforms and a good all-round knowledge of infrastructure technologies (compute, storage, networks, data, security).
- Demonstrate and provide evidence of the ability to interact with team members and clients, develop documentation effectively, and present themselves professionally.
You might not have all the qualities – we understand that. If you can demonstrate real expertise in a few and a working knowledge of most, if you show us your passion to develop – then we will support you.
